Good luck Eric Yow!

I GREATLY appreciate the support! The Lord has been far too good to me this year. With numerous shows dotting my already profusely hectic schedule, I have had time to practice for the WC as well as continue my ministry and finish another semester of law school. As some of you know, I had a bad motorcycle wreck back in May and, as with most comparable accidents, they didn't expect me to make it. Now I stand before you to say that the Lord blessed me with a full recovery and has gone on to make me what I am today. I am very happy to say that after taking 2nd in the preliminaries and making it to the finals, I finished 3rd overal next to Mike Massey (2nd) and Tom Rossman (World Champion 06)! It was a heated battle between Tom and me. I was in the lead for the majority of the match, though only by about 4 points. I missed two shots that would otherwise be hangers (passing lane and yoyo masse) that caused me to fall behind. Then Tom came in and made the yoyo (or as Jason Lynch was calling it from the announcer's booth, "yowyow masse"). It came down to one shot, my choice, so I picked an 11 pointer (max possible) to close the gap and left it hanging. Oh so close!

Tom went on to defeat Mike in what was possibly the most exciting match that Tom has ever played. The pressure was on, as he wanted to win his first WPA World Championship. He pulled it off, staying in the lead practically the whole match. Mike struggled to catch up and got back within a shot or two, but Tom was on fire. For all that Tom has done for this amazing and magnetic sport, and given his strength and desire that God has blessed him with, he deserved this championship, in my opinion, far more than any other. The tears of joy he shed giving his championship speech spoke volumes.

I hope to post the scoresheet and more information as I can get it to you so you know how well the other players did. They will have to come in subsequent posts.

Also, as many of you have seen my Masse Insanity video, you will hopefully appreciate this facet of my incredible weekend. While some watch my videos and say things like "anybody can do that when they can record and re-record", Nick Nikolaidis correctly told me, now I can honestly say the following: I am a WPA World Masse Champion!!! I was the only player to make all 5 masse shots in the competition, four of which were on my FIRST attempts, all in a row!!! Jamison holds the record of 46 points of a possible 47, where I'm a close second to his record with 45!!! The Lord is GOOD!

Look for a few things to pop up in the very near future - videos of the event, as I recorded a LOT, including my near-perfect masse discipline; the results that I'll post shortly; and an article in Professor Q Ball's National Pool and 3-Cushion News that I'll be writing about the event.

Thanks All,
Eric "The Preacher" Yow!
WPA Masse World Champion

Awesome job, Eric! Congratulations to you all. I am going to send Tom Rossman this thread. I know he will cherish the nice things you had to say.

Here are a few pictures from the event. Videos to come... :D

I thank you, my friend.

I made a jpg of the spreadsheet covering the prelims so you can see the scores of each participant in each of the categories. The highlighted boxes are the discipline medal winners for highest scores in that category.

Congraulation on the outstanding performance you did. I hope all the Masse were done with your Dieckman or did you use various cues?

My friend, I believe I have further proven the efficacy of the Magic Wandzzz, as I shot every masse shot with my Dieckman. I am so proud to wield such a magnificent peice of equipment and recommend one to anyone.

I am honored to show you the Dieckman's performance. This is a large file at 44mb so please right click and "save as" to help me conserve bandwidth. Feel free to upload the clip to other websites.

Eric,Great video. Whoever did the video for you, did a great job! One other question are there any vendors [cue, accessories, tapes/books]during the artistic tournament?
Regard
Bob Watson

Bob, I did the video, so thanks! There were a few accessories sold at the table as you enter the player's arena including shirts, gloves, and Rick Malm's CD-Rom, though no vendor booths like at the Hopkins event. There were several sponsors with banners up, however. I want this sport to grow more and more. We should have vendors at each event. If we had enough sponsors, we could have programs produced on dvd. I plan on making us a highlight reel from the rest of the footage I got from the event (aside from my masse win) to send out.

Thank Eric for the input, cannot wait to see your other Highlight from the tournament. Maybe Rossman, Massey, Neu, and yourself could convince Dieckman to built a Masse Cue for one of the major Artistic Pool Tournament, as a prize or raffle.

Thanks for the wishes everyone. I had a fun time even though I should've shot a bit better, but we've all been there before. Hope to meet more of you at Valley Forge in March.
