I may be helping a pool hall owner out with a website in the next few weeks. I'm a Web developer, but more in the back-end/admin stuff than the graphic design side). Before doing a site, I like to find three to five good sites in the same genre (in this case, "pool halls" of course), stare at them for a few minutes apiece, and close all the windows and then work off the inspiration they provide. Working in this way, designs often share a small resemblance to the inspirational sites, but they're far from being copies, rip-offs, etc. I assure you I am sensitive to copyright and IP theft, being a software developer and all...
The problem I've encountered is that I haven't seen many good pool hall websites. Maybe there aren't many, but I have a hard time believing that. Do you go to a pool hall with a nice website? Do you know of some pool halls with nice websites? If so, post them here and I'll have a look at 'em for inspiration. I'll post back here when/if I finish the final design for the pool hall in question so that you can check it out.
Thanks.
