Good with a Fishing Rod- Good with pool

I've noticed a similarity in people. The ones I know that REALLY know how to fish are also quite capable at playing pool.
Now some people who fish really well, just never took up playing pool so they don't count. But it has been my experience that those who have that special touch for fishing can also play pool really well if they put in just a little time.

How right you are Joey. Having grown up with a fishing rod in my hand and no end of sand pits and rivers to fish I got good fast at tricking fish. About the only time I was not fishing was when I was playing pool. The transition from one hobby to the next was made even easier with this old Brunswick Ku King that I converted to a fishing/pool tool,I chose a Snooker cue because the extra length meant longer casts.

I could either leave the reel on or remove it quickly when playing pool although certain shots could cause damage to the reel cover when you would slam it against the table.

Darn fine fishing cue you have there! Does it catch a ton?

Thats it!

That's the key to natural pool talent right there, fishology! Thats why I can play decent.

REELY!!

Where fishing and pool are most similar is the tall stories that come with them.

...although I'm inclined to believe Cuebuddy's story.....
....after all, Brunswick does have a marine division.

I fish far more than I play pool, just got done cleaning out the boat actually. I've noticed that a hookset, at least when fishing for bass with a jig, is alot like lining up on a 9 ball hanging in the pocket from a foot away. Same feeling with either one.

I think you are onto something here Joey, but I suck at fishing, suck at pool, and still shoot pretty well. Odd.

Little river smally, about that time of the year.

If God tells me to choose...pool or fishing...I would never touch a cue until the end of my days.

I believe there is a little truth to what the OP says but I believe it has more to do with the person who is willing to look at how and why things work and put in the time and effort to make them work.

Okay....first it was the similarity with shooting that was presented.....now fishing.

I'll cut to the chase......anything that involves your hands & eyes could be argued.

So darts, archery, bowling, tennis, ping pong. basketball. baseball, football, rugby,
lacrosse, football.....get the trend yet? Anything can be compared and aberrantly
rationalized there's a connection. Here's the bottom-line & ain't no substitute either.

The Only Way To Improve Your Pool Game Is To Actually Practice & Play.....NUF CED!

Pool is for when the tides are wrong. I'm an average one pocket player on a good day, but I can pancake a 13' Black Pearl with the best of them.

That is cheating.........

Oddly enough, I can cite two instances where fishing and playing pool are related.
A friend of mine who plays at shortstop level was at one time a winning professional Bass fisherman.
Another guy I know is a very good pool player, and Schon dealer, but professionally he owns, and teaches, at a fly fishing school at a nearby State park.
How 'bout that, boys and girls?

C'mon. Fish doesn't swim in sand. :D

Lol, my pool game peaks twice a year. February rt before steelhead start moving heavy and its been too cold for me to fish. Then late August rt before salmon start moving heavy and its been too hot to fish.
