Got a few in 8-ball

and now I got one in 9-ball last night. A break and run that is. I was getting encouragement from my opponent (who happens to be a friend). I was twitching on the last shot and found out where the practice comes in handy. :D

A question for all of you. When you are shooting someone that you respect, does it do anything for you confidence wise?

First and foremost, nice going on the runouts. Sounds like you're getting the hang of this game we call pool and that your opponent is a very good sport.

As for your question, it's not clear what you mean. Do you respect your opponent as a person, as a friend or as a pool player?

After all, in the broadest sense, you should respect all of your opponents.

I respect all of my opponents to a point. There are a few that I just cannot stand as a person and I try to not let that translate to how I play on the table. Some things, though, just can't be helped. My opponent the other night is a friend of mine whose abilities in the game I respect. I watch him and others play for pointers and ask their opinions on certain situations. He, being my opponent, has told me that my game has improved over the last few months dramatically, and that when he and I play in league he has the goal of allowing me to the table as few times as possible.

I take the "respect" thing as meaning do you play better against a good player and I know that when I'm playing a person who I know is better than I am I tend to play my best. A strong opponent brings out the best in me.

It is funny i cannot run a 9ball rack if my life depended on it if its my dad my dads girlfriend or fooling with friends. and early september i drew Craig Cochrane one of the best where i live for my province. Race to 7 i get a real shot at the table in rack 4 with my break i break and run out! i was soo happy. I am 16 so may the pool gods bless me many 9ball run outs.
