Burnett Custom Cues

Well I got my new Schmelke I ordered today. I called Dave about 3 weeks ago and asked if he could combine 3 different cues that I had seen on his web site. He said no problem and I couldn't wait to get it. It was worth the wait and I think it turned out great.

$360 with shipping. It is 60" with a 30" flat laminated Schmelke shaft at 12.5mm. The laminated shaft was a $30 up charge, the leather wrap was $60, the extra 2" was $20, XTC ferrule was $10, and the SUPER long triangle tip was $3, so you could have one made cheaper and get the same look. I need to get the tip trimmed up but I'm super happy with the way it turned out. It is a full splice ebony blank with 4 color veneers and diamond inlays.

Very nice cue, and I can assure you the quality is there. I took a group of junior players to the factory in Rice Lake WI years ago. There's 100 steps to making every cue!

Wow what a great looking cue at such a great price!! I think I will be calling Schmelke soon to place an order!! Do they offer a low deflection shaft??

Schmelke

These guys rock. They are quick, economical and build a great cue plus customer service is amazing. All I purchased was a 60 inch sneaky pete and an extra shaft and I think I got an email every step of the way. Just to let you know, I have several expensive custom cues and have played with LD products in the past but this is probably the best pool I have ever played. One of my league buddies has several Skrugss SPs, and they are very nice, but for the price you just cant beat Schmelke. I think my 60" with a single shaft was $135 out the door.

That is really super nice. Love the points and veneers, and very nice looking inlays. I think a nicely figured BEM forearm would make that cue look so much nicer though.

They have Preadator, OB, and they have two offerings (flat laminated and a new pie shaped LD shaft). I REALLY like the flat laminated shaft. It feels like maple but is lower deflection. I have a XTC low deflection ferrule on all three of my laminated shafts.

Funny you said that because I thought the same thing and tried but Dave told me he couldn't with this cue. I think it had something to do with them not wanting to mess with veneers?I think someone else puts the veneered blanks together?

I'm still very happy with it. It looks great and it won its first 9 ball match 15-5. It ran 4 racks in its first day of use too!

WOW. Very nice cue. And for under $400 ? I hear a LOT of things about Schmelke, but the few things I've never heard is " I paid for my cue and never got it" Or they were unwilling to work with me to get what I wanted. Or even, I got my cue and I hate it :)

In fact, I've never heard anything but good stuff from this family owned company !!!!

They do a very nice job. When I used to make breaker cues, I would use a lot of their straight wood purple heart for the butts and that laminated blank for the breaking shaft.

Schmelke at its core is a small cue and parts production company. If they have something ready made, they can piece it tougher and make a nice cue. If it is something they are not 'tooled' up for, then they will not do it. They are not 'Custom Cue' makers. But they do have some flexibility in what they can do.

I would say this is why I couldn't get that full splice ebony with veneers and BEM. I believe they aren't set up to do them and have someone put them together and they finish them.

that is correct, you can get an ebony and BME (when they have them) but with no veneers. I played with one last year, and it was a solid cue (Just no veneers)

Nicest Schmelke I've seen so far. You put a nice cue together. Enjoy it.
