Great, colorfully-written article about the famous Johnston City “Hustlers Jamboree” 1960s. Includes comments from, and about, 20 top-level players

For your Covid idle time reading, here's an exceptional 9-page article that will be new to some AZBers and a very enjoyable re-read for many others. It's from a 1970 Playboy about the famous Johnston City "Hustlers Jamboree" excitingly and colorfully written by an eye-witness reporter. It's filled with various mentions of the more than 20 top-level players “convening” from all around the country, with a great deal of attention to the gambling between Luther Lassiter and a very cocky Ronnie Allen. (Also includes *plenty* of historical background about decades of American pool hustling during the 20th Century):

Enjoy.

Good article

Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it garczar, Csim, Keith, Bob and other folks presently reading and delighting in it. Like irresistibly attractive nectar the pool gods occasionally send those millions of us who busily buzz around and within our colorful and beloved sport for a lifetime.

Here is a video about Johnston City.
If anyone knows of a better copy, it would be good to see.
ABC actually broadcast some one pocket from Johnston City. I guess it was a slower time in the world. ;)

I think there is one on YouTube. That one is cut a bit. It should start with a close up of Dannys hands taking a cue out of a tiger skin box case and introducing himself.

I just looked and there are about three and all bad. There was a good one a while back.
