Thanks Pt. He wasn't sure on the age, but he said he believes it's late 70s. I know from my research, Tad only began engraving his logo from 78 on, so it has to be at the earliest 78. That's why I said 40-"ish". I'm almost sure it's at least 30 but probably @ 40 or so. Solid as a ROCK, as one might expect from a Tad.

The logo started in 1988. I had and sold the very first logo Tad cue (4 point, 4 veneer) which was owned by the man who helped Tad Kohara design the logo.

Is there a premium for Tad over Fred cues? I have not run across that differentiation.

Fred worked with his dad for many years and actually built many of the cues during the last few years before Tad passed away. There is no drop in quality or workmanship as far as I know. Kind of like Gus and then Barry Szamboti.

My girlfriend and I left Clearwater this morning @ 9 and drove across the state to purchase a 40-ish yr old Tad Titleist from AZ's own BBB. The cue is absolutely gorgeous and in almost perfect condition. I couldn't be more pleased. BBB was a complete gentleman, extremely gracious and accommodating. Besides the Tad I purchased, he brought out another Tad and a sideways Joss West. Both beautiful cues. I hit some balls with all of them on his VERY nice GC I. The cue I bought was exactly as represented and, again, I couldn't be happier. I really think BBB shows the best part of what AZ has to offer, vis-a-vis its members. So thanks, BBB, it was all much appreciated.

One of the best playing cues ever made. I NEVER picked up a Tad that I didn't like how it hit! I've probably owned over a dozen Tad cues over the years and have three now, including an older Tad that was made in the Rambow style, like the one Swanee played with.

Amazing how info varies on the internet. I am pasting this from the Blue Book Of Cue Values site:

From 1963 until 1977, Tad cues were not marked with a logo. In 1978, he started engraving the butt cap of every Tad cue with the "Tad" logo, used to this day.

Jay - When Swanee came into Family Billiards, he played the owner one hole for two days straight so I got to see that Tad up close and personal for those few days. What a gorgeous cue. The first one I ever saw ( or at least that I was aware was a Tad ) was Rusty Bradmeyer's at the Citrus Open at Bakers in 74. It had a butt-cap that seemed to go halfway up the butt. I'd never seen anything like it. Rusty let me hit a few balls with it and I was hooked. I wanted one from that day on...

Any chance you can post a photo of that Rambow-style you have? I would love to see it. The only cue of yours I recall seeing was the one the airline was nice enough to break in half for you ( which, actually, is the specific reason I drove to get this Tad, due to your experience. Baggage handlers and shipping handlers all blend together in my mind, for whatever reason. )
