Great day with the Shuffet family at my home

Had a lot of fun today with the 12 year old phenom Landon Shuffet, his dad Stan and my good friend Gary Gentry.

I got a call yesterday from Gary Gentry stating that Landon Shuffet and his dad were coming into Evansville, IN. They came in so Landon could play with Gary in some serious practice sets to help Landon get ready tournaments in the near future. The problem was at Landon's age he couldn't play in any of the rooms in Evansville due to the relatively new smoking ordinances that now require kids to be 18 years old to enter. So Gary asked if they could play at my place. (9ft tight Gold Crown III) I told him I would love it.

If you aren't familiar with Landon, he is 12 years old and plays extraordinarily for his age. His home is in Kentucky. He played in last years DCC, has done exhibitions, been featured on national TV, etc. His dad is a certified instructor and outstanding player.

Gary Gentry is one of the top all around players in the state of Indiana.

They played over 7 hours of pool and we all had a super nice time. Besides all three of them being great players they are also extremely good people. For Landon to be 12 years old and get the attention he gets, his dad has done a great job keeping him grounded. (great kid) Look forward to see what the future holds because there is no one day he will be a champion.

I had a blast,

Jim, Thanks for the southern hospitality!!! Landon had a blast and would love to do it again. It was very nice to meet your family. Thank Gary again for making the arrangements.

Be seeing you,
Stan

landon looks like the most badass 12 year old ever in that 2nd pic :D
I wish I had a nice bridge and stance like that at 12.

Hey great pictures of Landon. I'd like to see his back hand back a few inches on the cue but i'm sure he's getting the best instruction around so all is well. :) Great to see the next generation of pool player haveing fun and success at the game. Only wish there was better access for juniors to play and compete on decent equipment. Also great to see a father and son shareing a common love. Boads well for the future. :) St.

Hangemhigh, Landon is shown with a Sherm/OB-1. Landon still will use his McDaniel exhibition cue during shows when possible, even if just for a few shots, to continue his appreciation for Bill McDaniel. Landon breaks with a Predator BK2.

Stretch, Yes, Landon's hand is in way too far and his tip is too far from the cueball magnifying his flawed set position. He was in a pose and not a good one. Thankfully that is not his typical set-up, even though Landon normally is in a little from perpendicular. His bridge distance in that picture is about 16 inches, way too much distance for consistent accuracy. Today he was working on about an 11 inch bridge distance when in a typical stance/set position. His heigth and reach has played a big role in his longer bridge distances. Also, thanks for the nice comments.
