Great deak on a Jensen cue?

Looks like a good deal, but I highly doubt that is a nylon wrap LOL

Jensen cues just don't resell very well...I would be surprised if it sells for less than 1k though.

Jensens are nice. I don't think it's a scam. In my opinion, it's not the nicest looking Jensen I have ever seen, but to each his own. I live in Boulder, if you were to bid and concerned about the seller I could probably help out.

Doug

Good Deal!

I have been to Mike's shop he makes a very solid cue...well built... he would retail a cue like this for $1300-$1500 so I think it is a pretty good deal. His work is real clean.

I don't normally comment on things like this but how is that not a good deal?

An $1800 cue for $750? Sounds like a steal to me. I agree Mikes cues don't have a massive amount of resale for some strange reason. He makes a class cue, make no mistake....and for a poxy $750...how can you go wrong???

Don't forget Mike has been making cues since 1969, he knows what he is doing and his bench mark is Gus Szamboti.

Thanks for the replies so far....

Thanks to all who have replied thus far. I tend to check on eBay auctions that end mid-day on week days as sometimes they go for very good prices. I don't know a lot about Jensen cues, but I do know they are generally regarded as excellent playing cues. This one is used and we don't really know its exact condition (straight? dings?), but it looked like it might be a steal at $750. So I started this thread to alert people who like Jensen cues and who might want to take a shot at this one. I am considering it myself if I thought I could turn it around for around $1,000.

Probably not

The problem with Mikes cues is players love them. They play great. Why is that a problem? Players are not collectors. For the most part players can't afford to buy a tire for thier car. They will love that cue and beat you with the cheapest thing they can put a tip on.
Mikes cues play lights out!
Buy it and play with it!

Suggest you watch and if nobody bids, call them and make an offer if they are selling for $750 they only have about $150 to $200 in it as most pawn shops sell for 3-5 times what they loaned on

Call Jensen (Johnson)?

This is a pawnshop, they are only going to know what the guy who pawned it told them. I'd call Jesen.
With about 3 hours left in the auction, I guess there might be time to give Mike a call if you are really serious about this cue.

appears to me

From the list of other items this guy is selling I would venture a guess he has a pawn shop. Might explain him saying it has a nylon wrap also.

wooops

I did not read to the end of the posts before I posted that last comment. Guess that this is a pawn shop is old news.

less than 30 minutes left

I decided not to bid on this cue, but just wanted to bump the thread to the top for a while as there is now less than 30 minutes left in the auction. Someone might find this to be a very good deal.

I have a Jensen. Great cue for the money. Would definitely bid on it if I didn't have one. It is a little too heavy for me though.

I doubt it is a nylon wrap. Could always get it changed to leather by one of the AZ'ers

Thanks for the info!

My wife decided to surprise me with a late B day present. She saw your post and bought the cue post auction for me. B day was the 23rd. Thanks for the heads up.

Let us know how you like the cue. I'm glad an AZ guy got a good deal on that stick.

From talking to Mike Johnson some of the players that use his cues are David Matlock, C J Wiley, Jimmy Reid, and Buddy Hall. There may be more.

I am sure you will like your new present.
