Hey guys,

It's great that you're putting these matches on, and the price for the Open is also good. No doubt, I'll sign on for that.

But, after watching first 4 matches, it seems that the resolution is not as sharp as I've seen on other Webcasts. Is that being worked on?

Another thing that could be tweaked is the ad bar at the bottom. Sometimes it hides shots at the bottom of the frame.

Also, will the 05 Open casts definitely be available to Mac users? I couldn't watch DCC feed because it only worked properly on PCs.

Hey BCN people! Every time I fall for your bait to watch these matches, I get an error "The server received invalid data from the client on the control connection." Why don't you fix your connection before you post on this board? It figures that if pool players are involved, something is going to be screwed up.

I watched the whole match perfectly... maybe your computer is "SCREWED"
:p :p :p :p :p

Every single match works perfect for me. The problem is on your end Roll-off, not BcN. The only gripe I have is we only get to see half of each match as they are very cut up. Why not show all the games and all the shots?

That is quite naive for you to say. You or several people could have it working great, but that still doesn’t mean it will work for everyone. Nor does it mean that the cause is not the source of the data. Take webpages written by junk programs, for example. They might work great on only ONE browser, but as soon as a user using a different "standards" based browser comes along, the web page might not display properly. This is the fault of the web page designer, not the end user. The same types of scenarios happen with web streaming.

It is just as naive to say that it's BCN's fault. :o

I never said that its BCN's fault. My point was in my first sentence. Just becasue it works for a few, or even many people, does not mean there is not a problem with the source. Or a poor choice in technologies and programming techniques used. This is in general, not specifically targeted to BCN.

I was able to watch the McCready/McCreesh match last week but I am now having trouble with the other matches. Can someone help me out here? Thanks in advance, peace, John.

Although I've been a loyal Mac person since my Apple II+ back in the early 80's, I just got too frustrated with the way internet streaming technology, browser plug-in's, pre-packaged video viewers, etc. seemed to always work better on PC's when dealing with internet content. So, while I use Mac's at work, last month I switched my home to PC. There are so many possible variables as to why some people have trouble, but generally the main thing is having a late version computer, late version browser, and a high speed connection. If you have all of these, then your problems will decrease. FYI, I have high speed cable ethernet over cat. 6 wiring, an HP Pavilion a1040n (a mid-level computer, less than $1K), and stream video with Windows Media Player. Even with all the above, streaming video will still be grainy at full screen, so that will have to be accepted for the next few years.

EDIT: Oh, to stay on this thread, Corey really pulled off an amazing clutch draw shot at the end of the match. If anyone needs evidence that he has (perhaps) the most powerful stroke in pool, that is it.

What media program must be downloaded onto your computer in order to watch these matches?

It was a phenomenal stroke no doubt but I will take Nevel all day over Corey for the power of their stroke. Corey is a much better overall player but Nevel's power in his stroke is inhuman.

True, Nevel pulled off an unbelievable through-the-rail nearly table length draw shot off a difficult cut (that scratched unfortunately) against Schmidt. I wouldn't want to mess with either of them!

I've watched that shot that Corey made over and over again, and I can't see much angle on that shot at all. What I mean, is that it's pretty easy to see by the action, that he had some pretty serious right on the cue ball, but as thick as that cut appears to me in the video, that much right on that thick of a ball (for me) would send the shot way off to the left. The only way I can see myself getting the cue ball to stun that far off to the right before draw kicking in would be for me to hit the shot thin (on the right) with "oh my God!" class left english. But then my CB would die after hitting the rail!! Obviously he had more angle/cheat than I can see in the video.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Efren's double-the-rail kick. That was also a very memorable shot from that match.

I also like Parica's rail first draw shot against Archer.

Yeah, there were many memorable shots, and that was right up there. It's one of those you never see until he pulls it off and then you think, why didn't I see that! His use of the inside english to get it to softly glance off the object ball and hide for a (nearly) perfect safe was genius. Unfortunately for him, Corey pulled out very nice jump shot, pocketed the ball, and ran out! That was typical of this great match, that Corey or Efren always had an answer for each others' safes!
