Greenleaf and Buddy similarities?

Greenleaf gave 'em ALL the orange ball(that would be the FIVE) when it came to drinking. BTW, i've sweated Buddy's eating game. He might get there against anybody. ;)
True. In the outstanding biography of Greenleaf released just a couple of years ago, it was noted that one thing that came with the repeal of prohibition in 1933 was an overabundance of parties in which alcohol was served.

Greenleaf, 34 at the time, was very frequently found at these parties, and it was suggested that it was at this time that Greenleaf's drinking habit developed beyond repair. Sad story for sure.

Here's a link to a thread about the biography to which I refer. It's a must read for the true student of pool history.

He went on a bender in '35 and ended up in the Okmulgee,Ok. jail. Had to run a bunch of balls for the sheriff to prove who he was.

The book deals with how the American Depression caused Greenleaf's earnings from exhibitions to dry up almost completely. The combination of reduced earnings and increased alcohol consumption put him on a treacherous path.
