I had one of Greg's cues a few years back and it was a nice cue and played great. I had no trouble moving the cue ball around with it.dstoker said:

I've got about 6 of Greg's cues and I'd recommend them to anyone. Yes, he's selling them too cheap for what they are. They play good and stiff. The only problem controlling the ball in my case isn't in the cue!

For anyone wanting a good deal on a good playing good looking cue, I'd definitely recommend Greg's. It's unfortunate it looks like he's gotten out of the business. Every couple of weeks you can still find one he's selling on eBay, but that's about it.

One of the last cues that clubbilliards received, it looked unfinished. The size of the shaft, the cone taper and the fact that it didn't look like it had even been buffed to a smooth finish led me to believe that it was a rush job to finish. The other Sirca cues he has are not near as bad as this one was. As far as the shaft quality goes, they are c grade at best. Therefore, you are paying for the butt. The butts that I have seen are pretty good, and like clubbilliards said, he uses a lot of ivory and stone materials. If I was to ever buy one, which I wouldn't, I would instantly buy another shaft from someone else.

I have gotten one shaft from Greg that felt unfinished and was taperred a little funny. I talked to him about it though and I don't think it was even his shaft. I think that was was on a sneaky pete I bought from someone else on eBay, so who knows. Most of the shafts are tapered good and play VERY good, in my opinion. And of course everyone's opinion of what plays good depends on what feels good in their own hands.

to the OP: they play GREAT; but here is more info for all to read:
greg is a very nice man who sold his, from what I understand, his very good (i think construction) business to pursue what he loved, and that was making cues.
I have 2 and they are excellent cues I am proud to have, not to mention that his prices were excellent too - they were very underpriced though. his wood selection and inlay buttwork were beautifully executed, and I think because he liked kamui tips so much he usually installed them even on his least expensive cues so his customers received the best cue he could build.
i am not sure but I think about the end of '07 or the beginning of '08 he became very discouraged that he was losing a lot of money in his dream cue making venture after moving to CO, just to do what he loved, making unique and beautiful solid hitting cues. at about that point or shortly after, he started selling some of his cue making machinery. but still having enough to continue, but not as an elaborate/duplicative a shop as previously he had maintained (some speculation here on my part).
anyway i think in june of this year, there was some controversy in a thread. i don't know the facts clearly, but if i try and recall, on that thread greg's son (who sometimes helped in the shop, but also started making some of his own cues, who was also an Az member under his own members name), greg by mistake posted under his son's logon, and was VERY HARSHLY ACCUSED of having 2 Az accounts.
greg was clearly very upset at that and tried to explain, but the BASHING blew everything out of proportion and/or/but set the stage, and greg being as honest as the day is long therefore was very upset from the accusations. when I read the thread, i knew the accusations hurt him and his integrity and i felt bad for greg, having to deal with the imo unjustified bashing, and also because i knew the man somewhat and felt it was all improper and uncalled for.
again, i don't remember everything clearly, but it was like he was attacked, and to make it much worse, his son (thinking it was really greg) was attacked(!!!!) as the bashers thought they discovered a terrorist amongst us - having 2 logons.
next i knew, he was gone, the thread was gone. silence!
am i the only one who heard the tree fall in the forest?
just to the few of you who really know me from here including personally, I want to say this: when I gave away cues to 'our future pool champions - our children or younger folks maybe in need', and just about then i wanted to buy my 2nd cue from greg, on thread he said, He Would Send Me the Cue for FREE for My Kindness!! is this a man who should be banned; losing money for doing what he loves; making cues for US; and wanting to give me a FREE CUE because he loved seeing kindness?? of course, i could not accept and paid him in full asking price (i still had his paypal address and it was still a great bargain at full price).

Yeah the only thing I can see is if he sent a PM directly to the higher-ups "asking" to be banned! Greg is a hell of a guy. Not afraid to express his opinion at times, but I much prefer that to people that hold theirs in all the time and still expect you to please them.
Smokey - your memory would be correct. Greg's son posted up some sneakies for sale, and was jammed by a current cuemaker that resides on this forum. Greg came on and defended his son. I have owned Greg's product, and they are very well made. I have also spoken to Greg a few times, and he is a no b.s. kind of guy. Greg is very passionate about everything he does, building houses or building cues. My advice to people curious about his cues? If you like the style and it's within your budget, then buy it.

Based on my past experience with Greg (about a week ago), all I can say about him is you can trust him and he is the man of his words.
I bought a cue from him through ebay about 2 weeks ago. I mentioned about getting custom made JPs for the cue and he told he would make a set for a little extra money. The cue came few days ago without the JPs. I sent him an email and he explained that he was out of material and couldn't make me the JPs so he sent the money I paid for the JPs. The cue is trully a work of art and it hits very nice, it's very unfortunate that it's not my cup of tea.
Btw, the cue is up for sale if anyone is interested
