Been away from the boards for a few months trying to get my business afloat, but I thought I'd take a few moments to show off my newest Titlist conversion. This cue was carefully crafted by Bob Griffin out of Deputy, IN. I sent the blank and requested the following specs:

1) curly maple handle
2) 19.2 - 19.3oz
3) 1.24" at the butt
4) ivory ferrules
5) matching joint protectors
6) handpicked shafts at +/- .1oz from each other

This is what I got back!! I'm thrilled!! The cue looks like a million bucks and hits like a brick sh..thouse :D

Bob is a GREAT guy to deal with and I can recommend him enthusiastically to anyone looking for a custom cue. Here's his website:

Enjoy!!

Titlist Cue

This is without a doubt my favorite MB cue and my favorite Titlist conversion.

I am a titlist junkie as I have had nearly 10 of them built for me and NONE of them was this nice.

Woody has been telling me to get a MB cue, this makes me want one BAD.

Ken

I have just about 10 Titlists also, and this is as nice as any of them. I tried to show the nice purpleheart/maple ringwork and the super curl in the maple handle. Bob went out of his way to to add the ringwork in all of the joint protectors also. I should be getting my 2nd Griffin Titlist at some point. That one will be more traditional with an ivory joint/butt cap, and leather wrap.

Hoppe/26.5/Titlist/Carom King Blanks

You can find these blanks all over the place. Old pool halls. Ebay, from old collectors and pool cue builders. There are a ton of them out there. A couple things to look for:

1) no splits, cracks or large missing pieces
2) over 15oz, but under 20oz (don't want a snooker cue)
3) minimum width of .950 at the points towards the tip
4) reasonably straight with a even roll (some had lead offcenter weights)
5) nicely grained wood since some had ugly wood splices
6) even points up and down (within reason)
7) older the blank the better. look for BBC or older 26.5s or green labels etc..
8) minimum fading of the veneer colors. some will brighten up again, some won't.

Hope that helps,

sherwin

Ken asked me if I had seen this cue yet, said it was one of the nicest he had seen. He was right (and that doesnt happen often LOL).

That is a beautiful cue, and just what I would expect knowing it came out of Bobs shop.

Woody

thanks
