Growing our Sport...Too Many Ego's

While it has lately been a hot topic on "How to Grow Pool as a Sport" it appears that we are going backwards in our efforts. We have the BPA going against the US Open...Mark Griffin speaking out against DP and the Worlds 14.1 Tournament and the 14.1 HOF. Far too many ego's not aligned with ever growing the sport. Sorry to say but without some solidarity or a big corporate sponsor with a lot of clout pool will be the same in the near future as it has been for the past 20 years.

Gotta start somewhere. There is just too many pool players world wide that spends too much money not to be able to get a sponser willing to help promote it as a sport. If people only knew half of what it takes to become a pool player they would be amazed.

Help promoting the sport should be holding free clinics and showing the youth of America the great game of pool. Promoting this game is the best way.

That should be the first order of business and not their own selfish needs.

Yes because every school would like a broke pool player that has been sleeping in his car for weeks to come to a school and teach kids..........:banghead::banghead:

Not an ego- just ethics

Wedge- the purpose of my post has nothing to do with ego.
It has everything to do with 'being truthful and not misleading'.

To call events 'world tournament' because the WPA would not allow them to use 'World Championship' is a cheap shot and only misleads the public.
If you call everything a word tournament all you do is make the title mean nothing.

I think it s an insult to the history of the game.

Likewise, to form another hall of fame with the same basic contenders is a little confusing and redundant. What is the real purpose?

On top of that, whoever from dragon made up the list needs to go back to school- the names listed are spelled wrong, the wrong Wille and they forgot the top players! That is ridiculous.

The sport deserves better.

BTW - I appreciate what dragon has done to help revive straight pool. Why do they have to ruin all that good will with intentionally misleading names?
