GSBT at Marietta Billiard Club - Kim and Johnny's 9 Ball Open updates

Daulton plays a bad leave on the 3, makes it but scratches - Kim runs out (nearly scratches leaving on the 9!), ties it 5-5.

Kim breaks dry - Daulton safes on the 1 - Kim gets a hit and leaves the 1 kinda tough - Daulton misses, leaves Kim a brush-the-rail shot, but he whacks it and misses, and opens the table up in the process. Daulton whacks the 1 and misses, easy shot! Kim sinks the 7 with a combo, drills the 1 cross-side, shanks a nearly straight on 4 in the side. Daulton runs out, 6-5 Daulton.

Daulton drops the 1 and 2 on the break, tries banking the 3 long, misses - Kim runs out, 6-6.

Kim breaks, hooks himself, pushes - Daulton passes. Kim kicks and hits but doesn't sink it. Daulton leaves bad on the three, slow-mo rattles it banking. Kim runs out, 7-6 Kim.

Kim breaks dry, Daulton drops two and hooks himself on the three - no idea why, he could have played the two with draw and had a shot - brainfart? Kim kicks at the 3, hooks Daulton, who also kicks, hits, hooks Kim. Kim kicks with a gorgeous safe. Daulton jumps, looooong jump - carols 3 in off 8, and hooks himself on the 4...! Daulton tries two rail kick, hits but scratches. Kim runs out for the win, 9-6!

finals report

finals are done...

Johnny Archer def Kim Davenport 9-4 in the first set to finish an undefeated run through the tournament. Marge and Shannon give their sincerest thanks to Kim, Johnny and all of the staff here at the Marietta Billiard Club for hosting this great event.

Action note: Johnny and Hennessee are about ready to start back up. Johnny leads 10-7 in a race to 21.

action...

score is now 10-8 after Hennessee runs out off of an Archer scratch. I'm only going to be able to do this for another hour or so before I have to head on home...hopefully they finish up by then.

Dags

11-11 Hennessee runs out off of a dry break from Archer. This is a win by 2 set BTW...

Rack #23: 12-11 Archer runs out off of a Hennessee dry break
rack #24: 13-11 Archer b&r when he caroms the 9 off the 6.
Rack #25: 14-11 Archer b&r finished off with a 6-9 combo.
Rack #26: 14-12 Hennessee caroms the seven in after winning a safety battle.

I was mistaken on the score earlier, must have missed the first rack or 2 after the start up. Score is 15-13 Archer.

Rack #29: ugly layout off of Hennessee's break. Hennessee is the first to leave an open shot on the 3 ball, but Johnny misses. Hennessee runs out. 15-14.
Rack #30: Hennessee scratches on the break, Johnny runs out. 16-14.
Rack #31: Archer b&r 17-14
Rack #32: 9 on the snap for Archer 18-14

"You can fool around with the Lone Ranger, but don't mess around with John!"
BIG BAD JOHNNN!!!

wow...ok, I'm pretty tired...disregard the "mystery" racks I missed, I was right the first time.

Rack #31: dry break from Archer, Hennessee gets out. 17-14
Rack #32: Hennessee b&r 17-15
Rack #33: after a couple of uncharacteristic misses from both players, Johnny finally gets out. 18-15

Rack #34: Johnny gets another as Hennessee gets out of line and plays safe. Johnny kicks to make it, misses and gets a roll to stick Hennessee. Hennessee misses the kick. Johnny runs out. 19-15
Rack #35: Hennesse can't capitalize on a poor safety by Johnny. A miscue on an attempted jump give Johnny BIH and a fairly straight combo. 20-15.
Rack #36: dry break by Johnny, Hennessee misses a difficult cut in the side. Johnny runs the balls out to win the set 21-15.
