GTF Cases

I think Jayman's isn't neccessarily pointing a finger at any particular individual... but outsourcing as a whole. Little by little, one company at a time, jobs are being lost here in America. While I do believe some companies that have their products made overseas insist that it is made of the best quality materials and workmanship not every business is doing that. Next time you go to the mall, take a minute to just stop and look around at all the clothing for sale. They are being made with the thinest cheapest materials possible. None of that stuff is made in America. But it sure is SOLD IN AMERICA.

Sorry for that rant and for the thread hijacking... just something I feel strongly about.

Well many time a company like DISNEY goes over seas to say CHINA for it products, (Officially Licensed Merchandise), but it is not about better quality, it is about MORE PROFITS for the MOUSE, and they do not care about the American Workers who jobs they took away.

Speaking of DISNEY the LAST TIME I went to Disneyland ANAHEIM, we wound up talking to a Security Officer who had worked for DISNEYLAND 18 YEARS +.

His take on working for the MOUSE in one of over 20 UNIONS that are at Disneyland, is he wished he had not gone to work for the MOUSE, as the Mouse no longer care about its employees, and is constantly trying to take employee benefits away.

I say BOYCOTT DISNEY, and their Products!

case

I picked up one of them at the US open and it has
been great so far . I like the quality of the leather and
the end caps are great if you bump it on something

I dont think its the question of where they are made, so much as to how they are labeled for sale......
Made in Illinois says the label.....

The label does not say made in Illinois.

The label says, GTF Cases, 2008, Chicago, IL. The label is meant to emulate the old Fellini label which also did NOT say that the cases were made in a particular place, they had an address on them, which could have been for anything.

It's definitely a question of where they are made as those on here who have a problem with the label do NOT require that all other products with any sort of label to identify where they were made, nor do they require a label at all for most products.

If these cases were made in Texas and had the exact same label on them as they do now than I have no doubt that there would be ZERO comment on the label.

I have said this before and it bears repeating, no one is going to purchase this case because of this label. No one ever bought a Fellini because it had a label with an address on it.

Which brings up the question which none of the people who take issue with the GTF label will answer, if you are so righteous about this issue and really want everything labeled as you think it should be then why is it ok for a person named Bob Hemphil to name (label, brand) his cases Fellini?

Doesn't that imply that the cases were made by some old Italian leather master named Fellini? Or does Fellini mean something special in italian that I don't know about.

If this means so much then why have I never seen anyone question exactly where and by whom all other products are made? Were the really made at such and such address? Who made them, were they legal workers or not, did the owner pay all his taxes, treat his employees fairly?

You see where this goes. Not to say we shouldn't be socially responsible in our manufacturing and consuming, we should, let's just try not to be too hypocritical about it.

The label reads GTF 2008, Chicago, IL nothing more, nothing less. If there were some attempt to deceive then I certainly wouldn't be on here bragging about being given the opportunity to make these cases IN CHINA.

Well then maybe you should look to the underlying causes of why companies think it's better to produce their goods half a planet away from the consumers who buy them. It's not greed.

John,

Great work on these GTF cases. I love my replica.

Are you able to make real python ones?

Thanks,
Ian
