Guess how to make this shot.....

Would this shot score a point in the game of bank pool or is caroming in a banked object ball off the cue ball disallowed?
At bank pool, the first thing the cue ball hits must be the ball to be banked, and it may not hit that ball twice. No cushion-first. The banked ball must hit nothing but cushion, and the only uncalled cushions permitted are the ones right by the pocket just before the ball goes in.

I saw this thread yesterday but didn’t post and wanted to try it. I made it on my fifth attempt.

IMO, it’s useful, but not reliable. The CB and OB need to be fairly perpendicular to the rebounding cushion and the contact needs to happen at the right place. It’s a fun shot though, when made.

Wayne...Shooting the CB through the second diamond of the long rail closest to it, the CB then continues to the top short rail, and over to the opposite long rail, before contacting and pocketing the 1-ball.

Alright, that makes sense if something was blocking you from going to the short rail first but his diagram has nothing blocking you from the 2 rail kick so why add an extra rail for no apparent reason? Why wouldn't you just kick 2 rails?

Wayne...Because the 2-rail kick is much less predictable. Sidespin can have a huge effect on how the CB comes off the 1st and 2nd rails. With a 3-rail, it is naturally shot with sidespin, and can be easily adjusted for spin and speed, to come off at the correct angle. jmo

I would definitely agree with this. Something about getting that extra rail in there just makes 3-railer's easier to judge than two-railers. The only thing I don't like about this particular 3-railer is the fact that the cb is only about 5 inches from the rail, and that usually makes it a less predictable shot for me. I should be high % to hit the ball, but making it is a much different story. I am not a 3-cusion player, though, so I could see where some people could be favored to make the shot... I'm just not a member of that club :)

Hustle,
You are right in saying that this shot is not very useful. It is not meant to be used in a game really. It is simply just a proposition shot:)
