Guess I'll Do A BCAPL Thread / Recap As Well

That's my thinking too. In fact, South Point would be a great "plan B", if things go sideways, with the Rio. While SP is not on the Strip, it is only about 10 minutes south of Mandalay Bay, on Las Vegas Blvd.

I'm sure Mark Griffin has spoken with the ppl at SP. I have no idea if the talks ended with a "definite maybe" or a "slim to none".

Eric

Love the SP- You could really get bargains there when it first opened. If you have a car, everything you need is within 5 miles east of there as well.

I think with the Louisville and Tunica events - possibly an event in New Jersey -- Mark is keeping things with Harrahs properties.

RIo was a great venue and I wouldn't be looking to change if I was him --- and I wouldn't be happy if he moved out to Southpointe.

I saw the Drill Instructor - is that RandyG?

And you will take offense to this (even though I agree that being a pro doesn't make you a good teacher), but to be blunt for an hour long clinic/session a pro puts on is much more exciting to an amateur player than RandyG, yourself or even Mark Wilson (who is a good friend of mine). I only state Mark Wilson because I would tell the same thing to Mark with no qualms. Now if I wanted to sign up for a day long/weekend long/extended lesson then yes I would see someone with the documented history of success with players.

It also helps to put a better taste in the amateur players mouth that is now being charged a green fee with one of the perks being free admission to the pro event if he thinks he is getting something back from the pro beyond getting to watch him in a match.

Good thread! Thank you for the report!

Drill instructor is not RandyG. His name is Dominic Esposito. For more info - http://www.thedrillinstructor.us/about.php

Randy had free clinics all week but he was stationed at the far north end of the area. I was looking for him but almost didn't go far enough north before finding where they had him setup.

I would like to weigh in on the instructor vs player comments. If we are smart about this we will not create a divide. We all want to see pool expand/improve. That won't happen by using divisive tactics. We must work with each other and make it all it can be. We are too few in number to be creating sides.

Imagine we are all in a lifeboat. Guy on the left says he rows better and and guy on the right says he does. Those in the middle without oars decide one is best so they take the oar from the one they don't like. Now all of a sudden no one is getting anywhere...we just keep going around in circles.

Kinda silly but sure seems applicable to me...
