If I were any of you out there I would not do business with this guy. Here is my story :

I contact him telling him I have the andy gilbert jump break cue that he's looking for. he then shows interest in my its george cases. So i give him a package deal.

He posts money to my paypal. it says funds pending. I call him and say IM not sending the case until the money has cleared from my account and I have access to them. "NO PROBLEM" he makes the call to pay pal and they are quick to change the status of pending to "Complete". Now I have access to the funds so I transfer them to my bank account. A few days later I sign into pay pal and it says I have a negative balance of over $700!!!

He tried to fraud paypal into saying I didn't send the case or he tried to pay with a stolen card or something. Im not exactly sure what he did, but I was furious with pay pal for showing the funds pending to completed and allowed me to access the funds without anything pending full 100% competition. Then days later going back on their word and taking the money back.

Because I shipped to the address that was given via his pay pal and did everything according to paypal guidelines they refunded me my money and bit the bullet. Pay Pal told me they were going to take the hit personally and refund me. What upsets me is, this scumbag gets the item free and pays for nothing. He tries to scam on me and ultimately gets away with only scamming pay pal. He gets a free andy gilbert jump break and a case. What if he did this to a more expensive cue/case? Wow. Sick.

GunNut. - bad news.

Wow. I almost pulled the trigger on the Schon Hoppe he had for sale. Good thing I make it a rule to not do deals with any members with little to no feedback unless they are willing to make arrangements I was comfortable with. Sorry to the new guys that are honest and legit but I got to keep my money in front of me.

I did notice GunNut has neither red rep or negative iTrader from this deal. I hope you wont let it slide. Glad you were reimbursed!!

Good to know....thanks for the PSA. Had an uneasy feeling in my exchange with him about a cue, which we didn't come agreement on with price. What's his name & location in case he's back on here under a new ID?

Glad it worked out for you Shane.

I won't ship to anyone unless I know them or the funds have CLEARED PayPal and are in my bank account.

Especially if they are new here and have little or no iTrader.

Also, never send $$ or receive $$ via "Gift" option. You have no recourse at all.

Good move hesitating. When in doubt ...it's in doubt. I looked at the Hoppe also. I decided I rather buy a new one from a reputable person than a "deal" from an unknown seller.

....Especially if they are new here and have little or no iTrader......

This kind of situation is exactly why I'm reluctant to use paypal as a seller with people having no history. The time spend dealing with something stupid like this is worth something to me.

Glad Shane got his $$ back.

Lots of shady deal people on here nowadays...

What was his real name? Cause you know he'll be back on AZ under a different name.

As a new user here and someone that has used paypal hundreds of times from other forums and ebay, it's hard to build up trader ratings without someone willing to take the risk.

I have over 400 rating on ebay 99% from buying. I've also spent and received thousands for my other hobby (RC vehicles). While I understand the risk, everyone started with 0 at some point... even the guys on here with over 100 itrader ratings.

Scammed

Shane, glad things worked out for you...

Thank you for the heads up

Kevin

SAME HERE I POSTED ITEM FOR SALE EXCLUDING FEES! WHAT DOES HE DO SEND ME PAYMENT WITH ME EATING FEES SO HE DID NOT WANT TO PAY THE $15 FEES SO I REFUNDED HIM THE MONEY! WHEN I WAS GIVING HIM A GREAT DEAL LESS THAN MY COST! AVOID THIS CLOWN IF ALL POSSIBLE! HES A NEW COMER!!! :frown:

Glad it worked out for you Shane. It is so hard to tell who is legitimate sometimes and that's a shame. It makes it so hard for the newcomer and there are so many reputable people, it makes it bad for everyone.

I know one of my first deals here, I responded to a thread that I wanted the cue and the seller said for me to call him and he put me through the 3rd degree, so many questions and checking on Paypal. I was close to hanging up on him a few times (now he's a good friend). But he made me realize how important it is to question everything--though I'm sure I do not do a good enough job.

Sorry for rambling! I'm glad this scumbag didn't rip you off Shane, like he tried!!

We start with 0 and go one sale at a time. But like a restaurant everyone is as good as their last meal.

Thanks for posting this warning. I have to admit I have been looking at the Schon/Hoppe cue at Seyberts for quite a few weeks now. But time's are tough, when I saw his ad with two shafts it did look good. Then I remembered when my GC was being installed. I was talking to the mechanic about some well known people here on AZ and he said, "oh yeah he owes me money for some Gold Crown parts I sold him." I asked why he would do that and was told, "hey he's a pool player".

While I watch the want ads each day I always seem to buy from Seyberts or Pooldawg. That is a sad state of affairs.

There have been a few "new" members popping up on Wanted/For Sale
recently with fantastic deals on cues. My experience here has
shown the exact opposite to be true.

Usually a new member trying to sell something wants much more than
current market rate as they are generally clueless to what is the
current market.

When I was a new member 7 years ago, I watched wanted/for sale
for quite some time to learn the market, and I watched it climb until
2007 and then decline, with a few spikes in between, and now in
a downturn again.

I watched what I call AZB cuemaker flavor of the month turn into ebay
blow outs of the year. I've watched the same overpriced trunk monkeys
and their following of nut huggers continue their usual bull$hit.

What I'm trying to say to this community of largely responsible
enthusiasts is don't let "the deal" rip you off.

Danny
