Buyer paid way too much!

maybe a little. rb would charge around the same to make it new today.

4 window cue is like 1500$ and change

1200-1400$ but fighting with 32 others. i know there have been times id gladly pay 200$ more for a cue i didnt get

could be a joss or joss west

sometimes that old joss logo wore off so much it was undetectable

i used to collect them old window cues

This is not one of RB's window cues. In fact his window model is shown as the "after eight" and cannot be mistaken for a Szamboti cue. I would have thought this cue, which has some very Szamboti traights, was a -R- copy. The RB cues have a three or 5 piece ring set above and below the windows. I have never seen a RB remotely close to a Szamboti.

hmm

ive seen the re makes of the BB by adams and if you sanded it down a little to where you couldnt see the name and re cleared it they look like some custom cue worth about a G or so but its still nice looking

here are some before and after jerrys. note the width of point and then the slipped on boxes
jerry didnt do this until the last 2 years at my request. points were skinny and boxes inlaid not slipped on

IT'S CALLED THE AFTER SIX, AND CAME WITH EITHER DASH RINGS LIKE THE EBAY CUE, OR STACKED RINGS LIKE THE ONE PICTURED HERE IN THE FIRST IMAGE.

THE SECOND IMAGE IS A SIX WINDOW SZAMBOTI, YOU GUYS MAKE THE CALL.

THE THIRD IMAGE IS THE EBAY CUE.

P.S. IT'S NICE TO HAVE ACCESS TO ALL THESE CUES WHEN THIS STUFF COMES UP.

TO ME, NONE OF THEM LOOK THE SAME. I THINK THE EBAY CUE IS A SCRUGGS, OR A JOSS.

Agree With Joss As Prev Stated. I Had A Few With The Logo Almost Gone

As Far As The Boxes Go. I Think The Dashes Are Prob Cut From The Same Piece As The Boxes And Ive Seeen Like 10 Different Sizes Gus Used For Boxes.

I Think He Used Whatever Was Spare Or Extra

Thats rough pricing, Mike:D I don't collect Richard Black's cues but fairly sure if this is one, its worth more than $700.

I think that came out wrong. What I meant was that I would have been willing to gamble around $700 on that cue *not* knowing if it was a Black or not, but just on the possibility of it being one.

I knew it was not a Szam though.

I think the joint and ring work is the key indicator for me that it wasn't a GS. I thought original that the blank could be a Szamboti blank based on the colour of the veneers. Scrugg/Joss would probably the best guess now I think. There was a very similar Szamboti with windows for sale for 10K recently and I check his pics and it look nothing like this one..especially the ring work and joint pin. I could be wrong but I'm sure ain't betting on this one to be real.

Duc.

I looked at 6 - 6 window Gus's all of them the maple was skinnier than the ebony. I do not believe the back end of this cue is Szamboti. But the points are very good and similar to my Gus (in construction), and this could be a Fedunka or Horn with a good forearm.

Joe,

Are you talking about point construction? This is why I'm not a huge Black fan. The ones I've seen have not been that impressive in point work by a long-shot. Now I've never seen one up close, but from what I've seen from just a picture was enough to turn me off of them. I've seen more than one like this, too, so I don't think it was just a case of a particular bad cue.

Again, I'm not trying to knock his cues or how they play. I'm just saying that the differences in point work between some cuemakers (past and present) can be measured in light years, not just inches.

Scruggs

My guess is an older Scruggs. Here's several reasons why. Weight bolt (probably aluminum) has a hex head and is drilled center for an allen screw and brown rubber bumper. Very typical for late 80's/ early 90's Scruggs cues. Veneer cut at the points look very much like one of Mike Cochran's early blanks. Stitch rings in the butt sleeve have typical Scruggs like thickness and spacing. 1 shaft (original) collar matches butt. 2nd shaft from a different cue because the collars don't match. Shaft collar has red dots between the maple stitch. doesnt match the joint collar on the butt. Take a look at the shaft pilot end view. The shaft on the left has a different brass insert (small inner bevel)

Maybe Nick will weigh in on this one.
