While I have a basic idea, I am much better at Bushkas, SW, and TS values and not so much on Gyses so I'm asking for those *who know* these cues to chime in with what would be fair market pricing for this nice one. Figure w/ 2 orig shafts 12.7 or larger, all straight and very nice cond cant say 100% but does not appear to be refinished but if it was it has to have been over 24 yrs ago, however, Pete Tascarella did put the smooth black leather wrap on approx 15 years ago and it's perfect.

So if you are familiar with the Gus market please share your thoughts and thank you.

best,
brian kc.

Did he date the cue? Gus made me maybe 6 cues over the years but the ones with the wide stitching at the joint I believe were early cues. I remember getting a cue that was just a 4 point simple cue and it came with that joint. I really didn't like the looks of it. I am not sure when he got away from that design. The value is a willing buyer and a willing seller. You would have to find some recent sales to get a bench mark. My guess is if you check with Barry, that cue may be a little more rare. It may have some added value.

I don't think there's any golden authorities on Gus cues...value is pretty subjective between buyer and seller (especially on something like this, which you don't see trading hands very often). I would think this would sell for somewhere between 8-12. It's a great cue.

We certainly know who isn't an authority ^^^^^^^

Kickin' - you need to get that out to Barry, unless the cue was custom made for a woman or young person, I've never seen a Gus tailored like that, I just can't see Gus in any way on it, not at all, nothing. the Mosconi diamonds, the way the Bell's meet the Bar, the diameter tailoring, I'm putting thread on watch.
I mean you no disrespect.

Ouch! I was just going on what I would pay if I was in the market. I've bought and sold enough Gus cues to make my opinion / guess as good as the next guys. It also depends on how long someone wants to sit on the cue to peddle it. My guess was the "couple-of-days-on-the-market-guess". Not the "post-it-for-two-years-and-wait-for-the-right-person-guess. Really, if someone wants one bad enough, and there are no others on the market, who knows what one could bring. Again, pretty subjective.

That railroad ringwork was common on early Gus cues. I owned one with the same ringwork, MOP dots and diamonds. I'm no authentication expert though...

That type of work was common on Gus cues. The joint collars and dots connected with veneers can be found on many of his cues. Pete Tascarella wrapped the cue. I am sure he had something to say who made the cue.

I'm getting my eyes checked - or is it just me that has seen other Gus's almost exactly like this?

Not saying it's 100% Gus, just that it looks like one. I have no idea where the "made for a woman or kid" comment comes from

He may be talking about the butt looking pretty skinny. Could be just a weird camera angle. Maybe he just has huge hands.
