I just thought I would wake you guys up with this one. Hal telephone me yesterday and talked with me quite a while on the telephone. He has always been extremely pleasant, entertaining and knowledgable about pool and other subjects a well. He has lead an unusual life sharing a few years 24/7 with Ralph Greenleaf learning a few things along the way.
Hal was explaining his carom system to me over the phone and I didn't have an ear piece and had to keep puttin the cell phone down on the table but after several tries I started making decent contact with the carom system and was actually pretty impressed.
In playing a match later on that night after failing miserably in a bar table tournament I was playing some nine ball for a few jelly beans and I had a shot on the 4 ball but could do very little in the form of making it or playing safe so I used Hal's aiming system for caroms to pot the nine ball. The four ball was about 3 feet from the cue ball and the nine ball was about 3 1/2 feet from the four. When the nine ball fell gently into the pocket I had to smile at my good fortune of talking with Hal earlier in the day as I would never have tried to make the nine ball with accuracy but might have tried to hit the nine at just under break speed wishing for the nine to find a hole on its own and praying that the cue didn't find one of its own.
I won't post Hal's aimings system for Caroms here out of courtesy to him but he welcomes a phone call from you if you are polite and interested. If I can learn one of his systems over the phone, so can you. He had to explain it several times as I was not having good results at the beginning and just wasn't "getting it". Finally I started having some marginal success hitting the last object ball frequently. The carom system is simple but requires some practice and it is obvious to me that with some practice your potting skills will increase with Hal's unusual carom aiming system.
Hal's systems may be radical and they may or may not work consistently well but they offer another arrow for your quiver. Luck was with me in the match but I barely managed to come out one set on top of a good competitor. I'm glad that Hal called me because the match was close and the carom turned the odds in my favor as well as deflating my opponent's confidence.
