I was taught by Hal Houle looking at 3 spots left quarter, center and right quarter. Way he taught me not Stan Shuffett way. He told me that most of the shots are use for one of those 3 spots except when it come to thicker shot than just thick.....gotta use the right edge and left edge. There are edge hit only and aiming at the edge but going overlap 1/8 when it a thin thin cut shot.
Hal Houle might of got many aiming systems, I didn't know but someone told me he did which is cool. I was in a pool hall one day in California and lucky enough I was in the right pool hall where Hal was at. He was watching me shooting and what amaze me that, he knew how I was aiming, didn't have to ask or let me explain then went on to tell me way you doing it, you are guessing. Before I used this Hal Houle System I was aiming contact to contact point and Hal told me they are invisible and it kind of guessing. So he taught me the 3 spots to shoot at the object ball and when to use edges on certain cut shots.
Thing that get me is that some people out in the world had been taught by Hal Houle but they learned different aiming systems than what Hal taught me. I had one guy asked me what aiming system you using? I says quarters and center shots( 3 spots for every angles) except when it come to cut cut shot gotta use edges and overlap 1/8. He told me that not Hal Houle and he told me he was also taught by the man himself. Well that cool and all but people need to realize that we might both been taught by Hal Houle but what system or set he taught you and what system and how that he taught me??? gotta ask yourself that cause Like I says earlier.....Hal knew what aiming system I was using contact to contact and he knew how I played, he knew which aiming system that be simple and understanding for at my playing level. Like RandyG told me Hal had several aiming systems. Hal can only show so much on different aiming systems to certain people. I am glad I was one of the lucky people who met him.
