Yesterday Larry Lasitter and me decided to go to the much closer "Hanks" then "Felt" in Englewood because of the snow. "Hanks" is an old style pool room which is a kind way to say its a dump. But there have been vast improvements as follows:

I saw with my own two eyes the janitor cleaning the bath rooms
Soap in the mens room
Hot water in the mens room
Paper towels in the mens room
All three of the above at the same time is big.
The urinal does not leak on the floor anymore
The heat was working
All the 9 foot tables have been recovered
The balls were clean
Hank was nice to me
All this and water is still only $1.00

You realize no one is going to believe they fixed that leaking toilet. I bet the pipes were just frozen :)

Hank was nice to you because he owes his success to you and your $1.00 water
legacy on AZ Billiards.
I've pointed that out to Hank, Tina, Kiki, & Squeaky many times, and I even showed
them the water thread, the time there was actually a computer in the room.

The important thing today is...how's Chuck.
Last year around this time I was driving him around Denver, trying to find extended
stay homeless shelters & motel rooms, so he didn't have to pack-up and move every day.
Apparently if you are single, male, and homeless, there aren't many extended stay
options, which is a real problem when it's below zero like it has been.

Great to hear about the improvements at Hanks. I also like the old style rooms and will check it out soon I hope.

The urinal was not bad last time I was there.....the staff had placed empty water bottles under it to help catch the leak:groucho:

I visited hanks last year when I was in the area for work. The 9ft was in pretty bad shape but the beer was cheap. Looks like they do a lot of leagues on the bar boxes.

I thought it was just bad tasting lemon water!

Chuck is missing. Nobody that I know has seen him for awhile.

Guess I'm gonna have to stop in. Now that I'm back from Utah and haven't hit an honest ball since February, the Gold Crowns there will be a little forgiving that the STUPID tight 9 footers and Mile High. I like an 'honest' table, but there is such thing as too tight as far as I'm concerned.

Old thread but I miss Hanks, we are lucky to have Felts. Old school is gone though in Denvertown. Measureman if it ever stops snowing the table time is on me!

Sadly the building has been wiped off the face of the earth. soon to be a Walgreen's or something.
At 15 I played there when it was called Family Fun Center, 1967.
Quite a place with a lot of history

Yes, I had been there when I first came to the high country...The Velvet Rail also, Walgreen's would be convenient cause there is not one in that particular block;)

I played there in about 1973 or so.
The only person I remember was a guy named Crow.
I played him 9 ball for about 8 hours and won $270.
I dont remember anyone else, funny how that works.
