That elephant should know better, right?

I just think we should have priorities....
...we have a lot of problems in society to straighten out...
...lets start with starving children and crack babies...they were born into circumstances
beyond their control...

I'll worry about elephants and seals later

I agree. Screw the bastards. All they ever did was shit on me.
Did I ever tell you about the time I worked in the circus?

There will always be starving children and crack babies to worry about. The elephants are almost gone.

Well, feed them to the starving children, for crissakes. A fully grown elephant ought to feed a child for at least a year, maybe a year and a half. Right?

A Modest Proposal... Then what?

Well, I don't know. Walter Buffalo, perhaps?
The point is, who needs either one.
Starving children. All the time with the crying and constant whining, "I'm hungry. Somebody feed me." It's enough to drive a person crazy.
And, elephants. They're too big for most backyards, and the crap, my God the crap. In no time at all you'd be knee deep in bowling ball sized crap.
Count me out. I'd rather have a Gnu.

well, since we will never be able to end hunger or crack babies, only do the best we can with what we got. How do you tell poor folks that live in a country that has little food and water not to have kids ?

Man has had a terrible impact on animals throughout history, and we can also have a positive impact going forward. I'd prefer a world that treats all animals humanely than a world that does not. Sometimes change starts now, cause it has to start at some point, right ?

Such majestic creatures !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was satire. It was about saving the children.

No it was about savoring the children.
It was a satirical essay about selling Irish children to the rich so they wouldn't be an economic burden. It even had menu suggestions:
"I have been assured by a very knowing American of my acquaintance in London, that a young healthy child well nursed is at a year old a most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled; and I make no doubt that it will equally serve in a fricassee or a ragout." (Swift)

I'll tell you how. You nail Dad's nuts to a tree stump and tie one end of a rope to him. You tie the other end of the rope to the ass of an elephant. Give the elephant a couple of shots with a cattle prod, and it's good-bye heritage.
Next question.

Agree, the former are only humans and there are plenty of them. We gotta be sure our priorities are straight.."The elephants are almost gone" christ4cues sake!

I hope that my next cue has recycled ivory from a cue ball, piano keys or any other source that is recyclable. The alternative is to be torched by the government

Why are these two causes mutually exclusive, again?

They are not, folks just like to deflect. It's as if more than one problem can't be worked on at the same time ?

There are organizations, churches, government departments, etc working on reducing "crack babies", and they have, so I'm pretty sure we should NOT drown puppies and kittens because the crack problem has not been 100% eradicated ??

There is no logic to their arguments, and pt109 is one of AZB best posters and a nice guy to boot, and yet, Yet, he scratched on this one. I'm very disappointed in his response. I"m perplexed, this perplexes me a lot.
