I was at the tournament yesterday for a short while. I was really not impressed with the turnout. I think the T.D. announced that there were only 67 players in the field! 10 years ago a tournament like this ( 10K added with only $100 entry would have drawn about 200 players) and for the most part just the local west coast players were there with the exception of a few from other areas. I was pretty disappointed, I don't know what anyone else thinks about it.LAMas said:Tom,
Thanks. You are making this Tourney very interesting with your up to date reports. Keep it coming.
Lets look at this realistically before you give an opinion that is negative.thebigdog said:I was at the tournament yesterday for a short while. I was really not impressed with the turnout. Yeah, I really wasn't blaming Hard Times. I am just shocked at that turnout. I guess I was just used to the old tournaments in Bellflower when guys like Buddy Hall, Nick Varner, Efren, etc. would be guaranteed to show up. I was disappointed to not see any of the players from other areas here.Rickw said:I agree with you bigdog, but I don't think it's anything that Hardtimes has done or not done. I think they're providing a great tournament. They do have a very strong field even if there aren't over 100 players. Jose Parica, John Schmidt, Mike Davis, Sonny Sambajon, and many more, that aint a bad field if you ask me.
