Anybody else think the side pockets at HT, Bellflower is all f'd up?
Why are they so tight and the angles on the shims are so sharp?
Gerald and I played there last night and those pockets spat-out some LAGGED balls that happen to hit the facings.
The corner pockets are tight but ok at less than 4 1/2" at the opening b/c of the angle.
But, those side pockets imo are worse than barbox sidepockets.

Why don't you ask the guy who owns the place?
I want a concensus first so we can petition him to loosen those pockets. :)
Besides, he only plays one-pocket so he dun't care really for the side pockets.

I personally like HT but dont like some of the tables in the tournament section. Of course IMO really tight pockets takes a little away from the game. I have seen Hemmah,Max,Efren,Ernesto,Morro and others all shoot balls that should have went only to have them pop out.

Joey where do you play at normally. The pool room closest to me just closed. It was not very good at all but it shut it doors. Weird thing was that
myself and a couple others had been trying to buy the place and he just shut down. Rumor was that he wanted to take a big loss.

BTW--Steve the mechanic for the tables at HT is on here from time to time.

Joey,

You're spoiled by playing on the Danny K's tables with big mouth bucket pockets! The tournament room tables at HTB play extremely fair and easy. Steve does a great job of maintaining the tables.

If you want to see tight, play downstairs at Hollywierd Billiards. Or try the dead rails, tight pockets, and phoney light cue balls at Shooters in Riverside.

shooter's

Yeah I can only agree with you, I went into Shooter's a couple of weeks ago and it was pathetic, atleast outside of the tournament room. ALL of the rails on the table were dead I was having to aim four inches off of normal for a three rail bank.

OH and I don't know what barboxes he's been playing on because the pockets on most barboxes are big enough to fit a 747.

I think your right about Shooters. It seems like when I first moved here three years ago that the tables were in better shape and maintained better.

I cant say that HT tournament room tables play easy. IMO they are okay but I still see balls go directly into the hole without speed and they hang up.
Hollywood Billiards tables are tighter but they dont seem to spit the balls
out so much.
I try not to judge tables so much on my playing but from watching others especially the good players. I know I can rattle them :D

BTW---- check your PMs over the next couple days. I am going to get your opinion on something.

Tight pockets are great to play on if they are cut properly. Ernesto makes the tables play perfectly, even the really tight ones. If you hit a ball good, it will go in. If you hit it poorly, you miss. That's the way it's supposed to be IMO.
