I will be in So. Cal this next week and was thinking of stopping in at Hardtimes [Bellflower]. Is there a certain section/tables to ask for, are there any weekly tournaments, is it in a bad area, etc..

Any info would be great.

There are 2 sides to Hardtimes, tournament side and bangers side. You decide what side you belong in..... They have a website so check it out for any tournaments going on. The neighborhood isn't great but not too bad. You should still keep your guard up when entering and leaving. Tons of talent there and challenging tables. Have fun!

Park in the rear of the building and enter back there. Its the main entry and will keep your car off the street.

It will be pretty easy to navigate when you get there.

Right side is a tournament area with tighter tables. In the middle of the room theres another section with a little looser tables. Play here if the right side is taken.
Then all the way to the left there are more tables. Mostly people just looking to knock some balls around.

Right inside the rear entrance you will see three bar boxes with some bleacher seating. ONly ones in there.

Theres two Gabriels 3-cushion tables to the left as soon as you enter.

Snack bar and ball checkout is to the lright as you walk in.

In the tournament area the first two tables are where a lot of the action
takes place. You might take a look there and see if theres any real good players playing. Ask someone if you are not sure because there are some
locals/regionals that play very well that you might not recognize.

Play on the tournament side if you can.

An AZ regular is the table mechanic and they are in very good shape.

There's a tournament on Sunday but I am not sure on the time. Its not the
first sunday on the month one but its still a good one.

Thanks for the replies Ghost and Frank.

I also read in another thread that it was a "boys club" atmosphere. Is that true?

Will I get this  if I walk in with my wife?

I don't think so. I don't think it has that type of an atmosphere at all.

hardtimes -bellflower

when i stopped there a few years ago i was simply told- don't be on the streets here at night! nothing more- nothing less. i was driving over the road- truckdriver- trying to get a few games in. like one guy there said hardtimes is a pool unversity! the place was just liuke any other pool room then- games to have or be had. don't park carelessly, don't be careless. i would be happy to spend more time there.

Hard Times

Here is the scoop on Hard Times. 30 Brunswick Gold Crown 1s and 2s. 10 in the tournamnet room with 4 1/4 " pockets. They might be recoverd by the time you get there, I should start on them any day now. I just recoverd table 5 in the cloth that they are using for the IPT tour so Robin Dobson can get ready. Also Efren and Francisco should be in a few days before to. Our house pro Dave Hemmah should be in during the evenings. You might also see Morro and Tang Hoa. As far as action there are alot of players who will get up and play.

There are tournaments on Thursdays and Sundays. The Thursday tournament might be cancled because of Thanksgiving.

The area is not bad, just park in back, in the main lot. You do not have to worry about gangs or problems, we ran them off years ago. On the big side of the room are mostly kids having fun banging balls around and the tournament room is for the serious poolplayers.

Let me know if you need any more info.
