Has Allison Fisher peaked as a player?

I think it is a combination of things. The competition has gotten better and the new WPBA format seems to be stacked against the better players.

I have also read that Allison doesn't practice much. She has a life that she enjoys outside of pool. I think she can turn it up when she needs to. Work on her break would certainly help.

As others have said, it is more about the talent rising up then any decline on Allison's part. She is by no means over the hill, she is not even 40 yet! This may be just the fire she needed to move her game to the next level, I bet we have not even seen the best from Allison yet.

Mentally, Allison I believe is over the hill, in her own mind. You just don't see the desire she once had. She has too many other things going on I suspect to spend the long practice hours required to remain at the top.

And the other gals are gaining significantly.

If something sparked Allison, she could probably remain at the very top for another few years, except for Jasmin who is bound to overtake her. Jasmin just has TOO MUCH BURNING DESIRE for Allison to remain at the top. JMHO.

I know that part of the reason Allision isn’t winning as much lately is the influx of champions from other counties. But I suspect after having that cancerous cyst removed from her eye she is thinking of other things in her life outside of pool. IMO. Johnnyt

HUH??? When did this happen?

Fisher was recently diagnosed with skin cancer and had surgery on Monday to remove a growth under her eye. She admitted that she thought seriously about not competing in this event, but decided to give it a shot. That decision turned out to be the right one for Fisher. "I thought about not playing. I even called my Mom and she encouraged me not to play. But I thought I would give it a shot to see how I did. " Fisher said, "But then I played well in my first couple matches, so I decided to stay."

See ...

all I wanted to do was to spark some discussion regarding it, and a lot of good information has been brought to light.

More competitive now, and more coming up everyday.
Maybe preoccupied with other areas of life.
Her eye problem.
BUT her 2007 performance is down from the prior 2 years.
Her skill is still there, but is her mind?
And I could could see doubt in her eyes when plays Jasmin.
Has she peaked for winning tournaments, I would say yes.
Has she peaked as a player, she may have crossed the peak of the mountain, but is still near the top.
Is she the greatest woman player ever? Yes, I think so even though I hold a special fondess for Jean Balukis.

Having given it more thought, I would have to say I was too harsh. I don't want to diminish what other women on tour have done, not by any stretch of the imagination AND I think additional competition is good for the WPBA. However, what Corr and Fisher have done in recent years is incredible. I mean, Fisher's accomplishments alone are rarely seen in any sport and throughout that entire time, Corr has been right next to her. Out of respect for what both of them have accomplished, I hesitate to make comparisons to anyone else.
