Appleton as well uses open alot
I’ve never seen Appleton use a closed bridge. Shaw almost always uses an open bridge.

Orcollo is predominantly an open bridge player, but will use a closed bridge for certain shots- particularly power shots.

I’ve never kept track of how often I use either, but it is probably around 50/50. I can’t conceive of executing draw shots or power shots with an open bridge

Maybe I am incorrect but there are time when you need both Open, or Closed Bridge. One thing people use and do not practice enoght is work with Mechinical Bridge attracted to stick.

This device is awesome.

Old man here trying to get back to the game after 50+ years. Watching YouTube videos I see many of the tournament players now using an open bridge. Is the open bridge increasing in popularity?
Thanks
Among good players, no question, yes - just easier to sight the shot without the bridge hand obstructing. Among recreational players, I would say no, as there’s nothing there to keep the cue from flying up and hitting the lights on the follow through!
