Have any of you used Katalox ? any draw backs ?

I just bought a couple pieces and was wondering. Never noticed it before.

I have used it a couple times & it was just fine. The stuff I had was virtually black, with a blistered figured. Typically the wood is bland purple/chocolate with no interesting grain, so I rarely even consider the stuff. I keep forgetting that it 'can' have great figure & color. It's hard & heavy & seems to be just fine for cues.

bob dzuricky has used curly katalox on cues before. he has a cue made of it on his youtube channel (dzcues) its the video where he is cutting trim rings.
