Have Bar Box Tables Evolved?

Still unconvinced why in some countries bars charge for pool.

I'm in the US, midwest... There's 2 bars within 6 miles of me that offer free pool on certain days. One is free on Mondays, the other is free on Sundays and Mondays.

Slipping politics into a thread titled, "Have Bar Box Tables Evolved". Save this type of humor for the non-pool related section.

Well this thread just went this way...

Feels like you completely missed the posts on Diamond bar tables, which by far are the most advanced tables in bar table history by about tenfold.

Freddie

The question was "Have Bar Box Tables Evolved" not "What is the best bar box table today".

And I disagree with your statement about ten fold. Better, yes, ten times better, no.

Seems legit. :D

I was pointing out two things - if this was a "What's the best bar box out there" then yes /thread once Diamond is mentioned - which should happen on Post #2, but the question was more about the evolution of bar boxes, which in that case you would be ignorant to stop reading after Diamond was mentioned.

And ten times better than a '70's bar box, sure, ten times better than the Global's I posted, nope, not even close. Twice as good, yes, ten times, nope.

Valleys are not even comparable to a Diamond Smart table and never will be. They ARE the evolution of bar boxes. They offer them in coins, dollars and timers by the token. Just my $0.02!

Notice I didn't say Valley, I said Global. And if we're talking electronics then, as previously mentioned, unless Diamond's can be controlled with a smart phone app then the Global is twice (not ten times, just twice) as good as the Diamond, play ability and overall mechanical design, Diamond wins, I agree. I like the way the inner channel is designed on the Diamond, quick, easy and fast ball return.

Point is, bar boxes did evolve with the making of the Diamond 7'. Theres no comparison to valleys other than they are both 7' tables.

Diamond changed the game.

Havent seen a global in almost 30 years.

Again with the Valley, I never mentioned Valley and I sure as hell never said Valley was better, or even close to Diamond, but as far as evolution goes - Global tables are WAY more revolutionized than Valley, still not as good (unless we're talking electronics) as a Diamond, but they're nice tables and they play very well and need to be included in a conversation about the evolution of bar boxes. If you can't understand that one then I can't help you out (not sure where I've heard that before).

And before I leave for the day, is your friend cute? I'm recently divorced.

Thanks!

not much of an innovator if nobody uses your tables[global]. Ive played all over the country and I don't think Ive ever seen one. The only reason I heard of them 30 years ago was the owner of a room considered buying them because he could get a great deal on them - he went with Gandys instead, that ought to really tell you something.

I don't care if they start building Pintos that drive themselves and pour you drinks - they are still garbage and I'm not buying one.

Globals are not comparable to a Diamond in any way. I could care less about using a phone to make it drop the balls...... In no way has Global been any part of the evolution of bar box pool tables, just because they have some fancy electronics does not mean they play good.

How about Diamonds with the Global matrix system installed in them, where would that put Diamond on your evolution scale?
