Have you ever caught someone walking off with your cue?

I once saw this happen to a friend's Balabushka. They only went a couple of tables away and he got it back right away. He said he wasn't really mad about them walking off with it, they didn't know any better, but he was pissed that they rolled it to see if it was straight!!

Yes

Twice, I have caught someone. Both times my cue(s) have been at a table in front of table 1 at Southrock billiards, and they usually have an influx of couples around 10 pm., and it was gone in an instant. Had to look around, but caught them both times. They claimed they thought it was a house cue.

Most of the time, it is people that don't know anything about Pool, and even that players have their 'own' cues to play with.

But, I keep a pretty close eye out most of the time. One time there, someone swiped a lighter of mine with a silver holder from me, and my opponent, Jr. Brown, got his break/jump cue swiped at the same time.

I was playing in a local lodge friendship tournament a couple of months ago. QBilder was also playing in the same tournament.

I usually use my case as a stand when playing. Because of the crowded area I let Eric put his cue in my case between innings as I had an open slot.

Guess what happened of course. Yes I accidentally picked up Eric's cue from my case and finished my inning at the table. He placed his cue in the slot I normally use. Boy did I feel embarrassed when he asked me how I liked the cue. Fortunately he was a good sport and didn't kill me. More fortunately I don't really bang cues around and I take care of my equipment.

On a positive note I can now attest that all Sugartrees shoot the same. His sugartree shot and felt exactly the same as my sugartree. Good thing we are friends..........

We use to have this person who frequented out community room as someone guest, he was know for trying out other people equipment without out permission. I told him one it was politely to ask before touch anything that was not his. He did not get that concept of asking permission.

It would be a pretty easy mistake to make. The cue I use the most is pretty generic looking. It was made by my son, Ken. One of his early creations. Strictly a hobby. It hits nice and I would hate to loose it, but I have picked up the wrong cue on more than one occassion.

I am interested in an RF device for my cue and my case.

There is a device that'll work for cases available immediately- if I get enough interest I'll make a bulk buy. The cost should be less than $20.

Here is a pic of the one that has the greatest chance to be engineered into a bumper replacement. If I can't do it, a friend of mine has a company that can adapt a wireless sensor package. Cost TBD but I'll find out.

I'd been thinking about this for a while- last night just made it happen. (I'm getting one for my case!)

Entirely agree- I've picked up others cues before. Breaking it down as I'm walking away is an entirely different deal!

Thing is, I'm pretty anal about watching my cue. I was surprised that in the span of time it takes 1) to pick up the JB, 2) watch the balls get racked, 3) get in position, 4) break, and 5) watch the table settle, my cue was almost gone.

I'd be interested in something like this......

My friend was the bartender at my poolhall and noticed someone come out of the office with a bulge in the back.

He confronted the guy and it turned out that not only was the guy stealing a cue, he was trying to steal my friends personal cue.

My friend slammed him against the wall, slapped him up some, took all the money the guy had in his wallet and told him to get the f out of there.

Someone said the guy actually came back to the pool hall two years later.

It doesn't have to be in the cue for me (although that would be nice ) but just something I could put in the case so that if started to walk away an alarm goes off.

Hey how about GPS transmitters? That way you could track it down.

Mully, just remember, don't bring biceps to a gunfight. :)

I shoot with a plain jane sneaky pete most of the time. My only problem has been way too efficient waitresses taking it and putting it in a wall rack.

One time in Houston, a player had just got a new custom Palmer and was showing it to everyone that would look. He got in a game and was laying the cue on the next table over. Along comes this drunk who picks up the cue and starts to walk off. The player lets out his war hoop and runs over and practically tackles the drunk jerking the cue out of his hands.

The drunk, not knowing what's happening, takes a swing at the player. The player flips the cue around in his hand and starts to swing it at the drunk when he realizes he's about destroy his new cue on this drunk's head.

He quickly and gently places his cue on the table and takes off like a bolt of lightning to the wall rack of house cues, grabs one, and chases the drunk out the door with it.

Greatest check swing I ever saw. We laughed a long time about that one.

I would like to be on the list of those who want one.

Gotta be careful with a "moochie"

I had one of those sudden pressing emergencies that indicated I ate one taco too many the night before. My Meucci was in plain sight leaning in a corner and it was twenty feet to the Meucci, ten to the restroom. The dash for the can won out and it took me about five minutes to get back to check on the stick. By the time I made it back it was too late, six more Meucci's were stacked on top of it for me to haul off!

I'll tell you now, if I EVER turned around and saw someone walking away with my cue there wouldn't be a word said. There would be some serious ass whooping going one. Yeah, internet tough guy? Trust me, I have never once thought that I am a bad ass. I will go out of my way to avoid confrontations and hitting someone would be my last choice in a matter. Not for this one though. Walk off with my cue and feel the wrath of MULLY.
MULLY
Those are 53cm of regret for anyone touching my cue!
