Graciocues

A customer wanted a thicker handle for his jump cue. I don't have one of the pins so I cut the old pin out. After I cut the cue I noticed it wasn't solid. It's foam in the middle with fiberglass around the foam. On the outside it has a Maple veneere wraped around the outside to make it look like solid wood. The ends are plugs of Maple. After further inspection I can see the seam.
I started looking at the shaft and it's exactly the same as the butt. It looks like solid Maple and it's not. It has a veneere seam running the length of the cue. I couldn't cut the shaft because I'm just making a handle.
Seems like a lot of work for a plane Maple $40.00 jump cue.

They do this to take weight out of the jump cue. This will increase speed reaction so you can jump balls easier and closer than with a heavier jump cue.

it looks like bone with lots of marrow in it. perhaps you should make soup with it, cue soup. :grin-square:

seriously it does make sence that the reaction time would be quicker as it has to very light,

Great idea "Weigh it". Not sure where my mind was. If I had any idea it was different I would of shot it a couple times.

The complete cue (all the parts piled up) 6.7oz. The shaft alone 4.7oz. The butt is lighter then solid maple and the shaft is heavier. Maybe they were trying a foward balance.

It doesn't have a company name. The cue is sponsored by the TAP pool league.

Many...

Many low end full cues are made this way, titaniums, etc. You also see it in cuetec knockoffs. Some are just fiberglass sleeves, foam-filled, with a solid metal slug at th rear.
