This is more a post of how I had 'fun' with a guy I played recently. I got a text from him asking if I'd like to play for a bit of money, race to 30, he has a 15 game head start. I agreed based on what he suggested, but as it came closer to the game he started changing what we would be playing, how we would play it and match day comes and he cancels last minute. It annoyed me but we rescheduled for a few days later. I got the impression I was being messed around so I thought I'd mess with him when we finally played.
The game was initially 10 ball, but as we met he said he wanted to play 9 ball, race to 20 with a 10 head start. I said fine and we began the lag. As I'm down on the lag with him I stand up and say hold on let me get my break cue. He thought I was being cocky, expecting to win the lag but no, I just wanted to hammer the lag as hard as I could. He breaks, eventually misses and I finish the rack off, the next 5 racks were mine, every shot he gets in those racks he had a cluster to break out. The game eventually comes to 12-12 so I'm like right, lets start having fun. He hooked him self good behind the 4 ball and starts rummaging through his case for his jump cue, what do you know he forgot it! I'm like here we go. I ask what's wrong, he explained and I offered not to jump with my jump cue. He tries jumping with his break cue and it goes horribly wrong. My turn, and I start playing with my jump cue. I see him looking at me, and he says I thought we weren't jumping. I said who's jumping? I then knocked in a few balls and left him hooked. He again tries jumping with the break cue and again messes up. So I finish the rack with the jump cue.
I pulled ahead to 16-12 and decided to make the game last as long as I could. I saw him getting his cigarettes out of his case so I knew he was going to ask for a cigarette break after this rack. Every shot I had I played safe. I got ball in hand and played safe from it. The game lasted about 25 minutes and by that time I was bored and felt it was time to let him have a smoke. I've never seen anyone clear the table so quick and rush outside for a smoke! 16-13.
Next rack I win making it 17-13 and decided I would try finish the set with combos on the 9. I broke, pocketed the 1 and tried a length of the table combo on the 3-9. I missed by a long way but slopped a safe and I could see he was like wtf, why would you play that! Next chance I get was on the 7. I couldn't play the combo but decided to go 3 rails, missing the 7 and pocketing the 9 with the cue ball. It worked like a charm...Thanks to the zero x kicking system for that one!
18-13 and I'm getting hungry and I just want done with it. Broke and ran the last 2 racks banking the 8 and 9 in both...well the 9 for the win wasn't really meant, I just smashed the crap out of it and it found a hole...it was about a foot away from the corner too, id have been pissed off it that happened to me but hey, he changed the rules so much he forgot to add one for slop!
So, anyone got any tips on how to have fun with opponents for future games?
