Anybody see the pool movie Heartbreak?

Says its 2019, cant post a link, saw it on FB, John Showman posted the link.

I saw it. It accomplished for pool in movies exactly what a “Dungeons and Dragons” movie does for its audience.

Not sure what that means lol.

We'll see how bored I get.

Expect the movie to be around the depth of the movie “9-ball”. Pool fans with cameras but no idea how to make a movie. And they sacrifice good pool for cheesy story. So in the end nobody wins.

I was a little surprised he did not boink her.

Take a good look at him in the movie- doubt he is "boinking" anybody! I started to watch this as a free movie being offered by Xfinity- they are offering over 5,000 free movies while we are all stuck at home- I did not bother to go beyond the first 40 minutes- it was horrible. We will have to wait for a better movie to influence pool's rise in the US again.

Here is the link to watch the movie.

Here is my limited review. The cinematography was actually quite good. The story line wasn't terrible but it was over the top cheesy and too much drama and acting. But, I could tell whomever made this movie was a pool person so kudos to them for putting this project together. There were quite a few players in it and Dawn Hopkins does the singing for the music which is interesting.

I have news, this movie or the new one Walkaway Joe isn't going to revive the pool industry. The only pool movie that would have a chance to do that will need to have huge named stars such a Leo or Brad Pitt. The Color of Money was also cheesy but it had huge named stars and budget.

I'm biased so I enjoyed watching it and seeing the actual pool shots were legit except for the constant part of working on banks smh Oh well it did kill a few hours during this fun time.

Just watched, won't win any awards but it was kind of entertaining. I've paid for and seen worse. I give it 6 out of 10.

Guess I'll have to watch it. Tonight might be a long slow night at work (hopefully) I'll give it a try.

Thanks for the reviews.

Just watched it. Wasn't bad. At least the pool was not cringe worthy. The Captain was a bit of a crybaby. Kept wondering how come his pool room was closed and he had no money coming in how did he get to live in his old pool room? Anyway, it was as good as 90% of the weekly episode tv programs. And as always I wanted to smash a pie into Mitch Laurence's face.

Ratings of the pool movies I have seen

Hustler still number one
Color of Money still number two
Heartbreak
Baron and the Kid
Pool Hall Junkies
That god aweful woopie goldberg movie that I forgot the name of.

In the regional tour movie ending final match vs Ewa, which for the entire movie they made it seem like she had to win it in order to qualify for the big tour, as she was playing a tour player in the finals, she didn’t have to win it - she was already guaranteed a spot as the highest finishing non touring pro player.

All in all, I enjoyed the movie. I may be completely ignorant here as I don’t keep up with any women’s tour, but anyone know if the female player is a player of any consequence? Her stroke seemed to be a little jerky, although she obviously seemed to have much better technique than any actress ever would. I guess I’m wrong – I just looked it up and I guess she is an actress. Obviously my guess is she has spent some time around a pool table before.

I watched it the other night on Tubi after seeing this thread. I thought it was ok, I am not a big movie buff in general. The thought that she would make enough money on the women's tour to support herself and her son's schooling was a little out there. The worst part of the movie was that vest with the ratchet straps he had her wearing. How would that help anything?
I also tried watching 9 ball a while back but could only sit through a few minutes of it. It was pretty bad.

In the never ending search for the next big pool movie Hollywood has churned out a bunch of absolute stinkers. I only watched the trailer for this and while it doesn't look horrible i'm gonna pass on it as well.

not a single cringey pool moment, decent shots, real pool. overall, whoever was involved did pool justice. the acting wasn't horrible, not great either, plots that weren't resolved, ide give it 5 out of 10.

Lol, Kiss Shot. I remember that movie.

I really enjoyed Pool Hall Junkies.

There will never be another pool movie made that would be in the same league as The Hustler.

I watched it and liked it, went to the grand opening at the Villages here in Florida. Here is some history of the movie, made in the Orlando area, several of the pool halls were featured, Clicks and
Corner Pockets. A friend of mine wrote, paid for, produced and was technical advisor for the movie.
I won't name names but he is a big friend to pool in this area. He has had several pros stay at his house when they come to Florida. For years when the Korea girls started coming to the US he would help them out. They often stayed at his house for months while training and he would give help with their game. He still supports pool and plays good short stop speed. He and I go to the Derby every year and he plays in all events.
