HELLO--[hello, hello]--Is there anybody down there?

I have been waiting patiently for some updates on the festivities so far. WHO saw the ring game with Jose Parica pocketing 14 dimes? Aside from Hennessee, is there any ACTION? How's the AzBilliards Room coming along?

I heard Harry Platis removed his name from the bank ring game and had put in the legendary Piggy instead. Harry banks 'em pretty doggone good, IMHO, but I like Piggy's chances a wee bit better! :D

I'll stand by and hope this thread gets a couple responses, dag nab it!

Jam, are you not watching it live online? and how come you and your horse aren't there? I watched the online show last night and the cream of the crop rose to the top.

Archer got a little unlucky towards the end and Jose got a little lucky to win, such is a ring game.

I know when I play in 5 handed ring game against good players I can go an hour or more without a makeable shot, I can't imagine playing in a ring game with 7 pros.

That is interesting

I am talking about Harry replacing himself and I imagine with his money. So exactly what are Grady's rules? He insists everyone signup and send in money, first come first serve and then a waiting list. However any players can quit and put in someone else? Strange and the reason I bring it up is Tony Chohan and Alex P. were suppose to play last night and they were replaced. Never got an explanation because the broadcast was so bad that if they did explain I never heard about it. Tried to call Tony but no response as I was curiious cause I wanted to watch and root for him but was really disappointed.
By the way Harry had Jose's action last night so he might be better served to have Piggy win too. lol

Keith just spoke to Harry via cell phone, and he's elated that he got himself a little score! :)

I'm sure Jose is, too! :D Nice way to start a tournament.

I caught the tail end of the conversation on Keith's end chatting with Harry, which went like this:

KEITH: ...That's good. I'm glad that you booked a little winner.
[Pause.]
KEITH: I know. There's lots of people there.
[Pause.]
KEITH: Well, I'm glad that you won that money. Now you can play on their money for a while and have some fun!
[Pause.]
KEITH: They're talking about having the qualifier for 250 for the IPT?
[Pause.]
KEITH: How many players they got signed up for the IPT, for the 250?
[Pause.]
KEITH: Ten guys?....

At any rate, congratulations to Jose Parica. That was a mighty tough field, and he came out on top. Could it be...that "FILIPINO DOMINANCE IN POOL" once more? Who will triumph in the banks ring game? Hope to hear from others as the events unfold! :p

Wish I was, efirkey! I'm at home on dial-up. :(

BUT like all red-blooded native Washingtonians are doing today, I've got an appointment with the TV at 4:30 p.m., Eastern Standard Time, when the Redskins will be kicking themselves some lowly Tampa Bay Buccaneer butts! :D

Hail to the Redskins and all that kind of good stuff! :p

I was saying they were advertised as playing in the ring game not each other.

Good Morning!

Just got up at 4:30 - Plenty of short action in the lounge room last night and a LOT of woofing. Had a hard time staying up until the breakfast buffet opened at 6:30am. Getting on my DCC schelule is kinda hard the first few days. Should be a lot going on tonight if I can get off this laptop (playing Gin) and get down there.
The AZ/OP room is doing great and Williebetmore did a hellava job getting everything set up. The banners are a work of art. Mike (semperfi) is a big help as well as Ratchet. The location is perfect for stopping in while going from the tourney to the lounge. Great place to relax and shoot some BS and sit. I think that is what Freddy & I are useing it for the most.

Later, Tom

Wish You Were Here

as also sung by The Pink Ones

But noooooooo you no showed on me and I drove so far to meet you two in person (sigh)!! I have been posting regularly about my 'speriences here at DCC in the DCC room thread I hope you enjoy them from a fans perspective

Grady Matthews has been in and out of the room all day today ,his wife Randi is a room monitor and everything is going pretty well . I met and shook Vivian Villareal's hand today we exchanged pleasantries as she coming thru the crowd what you see on tv is what she is really like ,bubbly personality with a twinkle of mischief in her eyes and very gracious . But she looks so much taller on tv lol she must be around 5'4" or so and tiny she invited me to watch her shoot today and I forgot to go ,there is so much going on here Buddy Hall was in and out of the room a few times last night and Greg Sullivan is going to try to get him to stop in for a short confab ....As to Greg Sullivan , The man sure knows how to put on a good show I am very impressed by the standards he has raised and set for this sport and from what little I have seen Him and Mike Janis exemplify what this sport should and one day will be and that is top notch knowledge of how to do it right that should set the standards for others to emulate and with very little reward for a job well done I say Thank You!! tap tap tap

Ratchet - and there is supposedly only 24 hours in a day my butt ,I myself am working on 32 !!lolol

Jam, as for the action I cant help you but I did see Alex playing by the tea room late last nite and there were quite a few railbirds watching the show ,what transpired I cant tell you ,I can tell that a few AZers are still in it with one beating Kid Delicious last nite ( I cant remember who but will update shortly) If I hear any scuttlebutt I will pass it on ASAP

Now, that's what I'm talking about, Ratchet. Thanks for those kind updates! :)

I know how it is when you're in motion at the DCC, and sometimes it's difficult to find time to post. Any tidbits are appreciated!

I'm watching the Tampa Bay Buccaneers getting demolished in the first quarter. I just pulled my Redskins flag out of the closet and am getting ready to hang it out front.

HAIL to those Redskins! Braves on the warpath are fighting for old D.C.!

I know you are in for a big treat, Ratchet, when you start sweating the festivities. Let us know who's barking the loudest and which pockets run deep!:D

JAM -

I was quite dissapointed when I read you were not going :( I was really looking forward to your reporting and all the great pics you take.

You let us down :) I hope you are proud of yourself lol

With all the AZBers there, I was hoping to get some regular posting. Somebody should light a fire under them and get them typing ;)

Hi Ratchet,
Thanks for the report.

After some extensive mouth-to-mouth from Bucs cheerleader Bambi and 50,000 volts on the defibrillator,we were able to revive Smorgass Bored in time for the fourth quarter. His first words after being brought back to life were, "does anyone have a report on how AzBer Joey A. is doing at the DCC?"

Nope, but I can tell you that Doug shoulda skipped the 50000 volts. The Skins win w/ less than 450 feet of total offense! Big ouch for both teams!

Go Skins!

a little action report

Thanks, Erno, for the snippet of the action. Much appreciated! :)

BTW, I noticed that you are from Louisville yourself, Erno. Recently, at a pool room in Virginia, a gentleman they called "T.K." or "Tommy" was visiting the area, and we really enjoyed his company. He said he owned a pool room in Louisville. If you happen to run into him, please send him my regards.

Also, if you get a chance, zip on up to the second level and check out the mini tournaments, which can be quite exciting for railbirds like me. Sometimes there's some topnotch competition in those rooms, and it is a great way to grind out a little traveling cash if you play well. I really enjoy those mini tournaments. The guy who runs them does a superb job. He has a pleasant personality, and all players are welcome to shoot in the events that he runs there in Louisville.

AND if you happen to run into Greg Sullivan, the DCC promoter, wish him a HAPPY BIRTHDAY because it's today.

So, from what I have been reading here on the forum, it would seem to me that Cliff Joyner is providing a lot of entertainment and action, matching up with quite a few players. I know it's early, but I'm thinking he may be in the running for the Louie Roberts A/E Award.

Two years ago, Tony Watson won the honors. Alex Pagulayan won the year before. I cannot remember who won last year, but this year will be the FOURTH Louie Roberts A/E Award which is granted to the player who provides the most ACTION and ENTERTAINMENT, i.e., "A/E." The winner gets free entry fees and hotel room for life of the DCC.

Keep those updates coming, AzB-ers, for us less fortunate back home!:p

It looks like they're actually holding regular tournament games upstairs right now. Someone said that all the minis are at the Executive Inn. I don't know how accurate that is, but when I went upstairs, there was a lot of what looked like normal tournament action with no mini-tournament director.

The upstairs rooms have been named the Jack Cooney/James Walden Rooms. I don't know if this is new.

Very early, but you're right. So far, he's been pretty much the only action.

And let's not forget: AZBilliard forum members as well as CCBoard and OnePocket.Org members are voting on this award, as opposed to just a handful of spotters. I hope the AZBers get out of the AZB room and into the action if they're going to be of influence.

BTW: Scott Frost won last year.

Keep those updates coming, AzB-ers, for us less fortunate back home!:p
And you are not here why?

Doug,

Joey A is here, and has spent a lot of time in the AZB/1P room. He's not playing the banks, so his first tourney match won't be until at least 1:00 PM Sunday (1/8/06)

Fred

Thanks

for the report. Love to get some feedback about the gambling
going on. Having seen both Cliff and Walden in action before,
they both can definitely take it down for the money when it
is on the line.
