I have found an early black boar cue that I could purchase for a gentlemen but dont know the value of the cue in it's current condition. here is the description:

Said to be one of the Early black boar cues
Curly maple forearm with 4 ebony sharp points
small ivory diamonds in each point near the bottom
NO veeners
stainless joint
linen wrap in good condition
shaft # 1 12mm dirty must of been the main playing shaft
Shaft # 2 13mm looks to be in excellent condition.
Ebony butt no inlays
White butt cap no damage
B&B on butt cap with the little boars head emblem between the B&B
Finish on the cue is in poor condition but the wood it self looks undamaged.
I dont have pics of this cue yet. I would like some estimates of value on a cue like this.

From your description and comparing it to the Blue Book 3rd Edition - it appears to be around 70% to 80% condition. Blue Book says between $800 to $1,050.

The Blue Book is way off on the current values of Black Boar cues. The price has risen considerably on them in recent months.

The Third Blue Book is Way off on a lot of cue makers cue prices.
Look at Barry Szamboti prices also.I know a lot of people that would gladly give you full Blue Book prices on them .

I've had a couple cuemakers say the blue book isn't worth the paper it was printed on LOL. One said they were over priced and the other under priced. Go figure.

Personally, I don't get Black Board pricing. Never did. I'd pay maybe $250 for a cue like that. But people out there would try and sell that cue for like $4,500!

I think it is a pretty good cue reference, but I don't suggest using too many of the cue values. It is a great book for looking at cue models and getting cuemaker info. Also, it is all we have, so we are stuck with it.

from the sounds of it $2000-$2400ish....realistic sale price.

Refinish/rewrap....12mm shaft....no veneers

My .02 cents

Think as a buyer and offer $800-$825-$850.

If you have anyone but Tony do the work it will consistantly take away from the value....(no matter who does the work). If Tony does do the work......you are looking at $500+\-. Don't forget months of time in repair in Tony's shop. (Not all of us know him personally)

Either way the cue is lower end and at full value, 100%condition, would only bring $1400/$1500+\- depending on the buyer.

Market as bad as it is.......

$800 sounds like the correct offer. You both win at that cost.
