My light is mounted on a 13FT high ceiling. I need to remove it. Any ideas how to safely do it? Can I put a ladder on the slate bed? Plywood sheet across the side rails w/ladder on it? Please help!

I dont see why you couldnt place a good number of blankets over the table and then a sturdy piece of plywood and then your ladder. It beats having to buy another ladder or having to hire someone.

The ceiling in my pool room is 12 ft tall. We used 2 step ladders and a 12 inch wide board to stand on.

I like this idea the best !!

Why put weight on your table/slate if you don't have to??

round up 35 people, ducktape 3 cues together + a toilet plunger on top dressed with ducktape inside (sticky side out). git it up there and have your folks turn the house for you.

Yep done the exact same thing

I was in Florida and that is what we did and it worked out okay.

Why would you want to risk anything?

Security is first people! Why risk damaging equipment or having a fall because you do not want to rent a secure ladder?

I say go to your nearest rental equipment place and get the proper ladder to do the job.

Unfortunately renting a taller ladder like a 12 foot won't help because I still wouldn't be able to reach the junction box from the side of the table. My arms aint that long. lol. Renting a professional scaffolding set will cost a lot more than I paid for the light.

It seems consensus is either I use 2 ladders with board between them making a scaffold or putting my cover & blankets with a plywood piece on the slate with the ladder on the plywood. Hmm.

If anyone has any other ideas there much appreciated. Thanks!

I put blankets on the rails to pad them and then laid a 4x8 sheet of 3/4" Plywood across the table and stood on it and if that's not all enough then add a small ladder.

If you happen to be located in Louisville, Ky or remotely close, I can get you the scaffold to use.
I'm in AZ. Bit away from KY. thanks though. I think I may try the 2 ladders with a plank homemade scaffold to avoid putting weight on the table.

I understand wanting to avoid putting weight on the table but when you stretch out over a rail to shoot a shot where you have to reach full length you put almost all you weight on one spot. When you lay a sheet of plywood over the rails the weight is well spread out and hasen't ever hurt my table or messed up the level.

The scafflold between two ladders is wobbly! Carefull!!! And it better be a thick plank. I tried that method and got scared off. I weigh 230.
