Help Choosing Cloth for my 8' Table ...

Hi ...

I have an 8' American Heritage table (1" Slate Top) in my home that I've enjoyed over the years (10 to be exact) and it's time to change out the cloth ... May also change our the Rubber if needed ... (any good tests to determine if new rubber is needed other than visual on experience of the bounce) ...

I was thinking of going the Simonis Route, but was wondering if that would be too fast of a cloth for this smaller size table ...

One retailer that I spoke to recommended going with a Champion Ultra Teflon coated fabric ... but I'm not too sure about that ... We don't have spills on our table ... no kids ...

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated ...

He was probably referring to Invitational with Teflon. It's still a thinner less expensive cloth. Not sure others will agree but, I've had very good luck installing ProForm as it's a worsted cloth with a lower price tag than Simonis. Simonis set the standard for worsted, Professional grade cloth but if cost is a factor, ProForm in my opinion is a good alternative and not that much more than Championship Invitational with the Teflon.

If you are in the Charlotte/Mooresville area of NC, give me a shout! I may be able to help you.

Thanks, I'm in the Raleigh area ... I'm mainly concerned if the Simonis type cloth will be too fast for my 8' table or if I should choose something else ... As well as, when re-covering the table, should I go ahead and add new rubber? Any tips to identifying rubber that needs replacing other than by feel and experience ... Is K66 what most go with on a simple home table?

Simonis will be fine on an 8'. American Heritage cushions typically go bad in the first five years so if you got 10, you're a lucky soul! If you going to install new cloth, now would be an excellent time to change out those cushions. I have faith they will fail within a year of changing your cloth if history repeats itself! You'll need K66 profile.

New rubber

Saw this test here on az. Throw ball by hand length of table pretty hard. Ball should hit four maybe four and one half rails. Pool tables are supposed to be fast. Nobody by design, would make a table play slow. Cloth is a major factor for speed but not as much as lively cushions. Not a pro table guy here, but I slept at the Holiday Inn in Dillon Colorado $89 about fifteen years ago.

Thanks guys ... Looks like I'll go with the Simonis 860 cloth and yeap my cushions are pretty darn hard ... I'll just go ahead and replace them at the same time ... What's brand of K66 cushions will work with my American Heritage Table?
