Help for my dream

Good luck with your dream Mr. Dix.

As its said, Dreams Don't Cost Anything. But it can cost to implement them.

Last year I was able to fulfill a Dream of myself owning a fishing boat.

Its used as most of my lifes possessions are. Yet, I'm proud of it and take care of it as if it were brand new.

The AZ Community are a pretty generous lot. I would believe that if this was a life threatening situation concerning yourself or any of your Family members, that many of the Membership would pitch in for you.

See the Thread in NPR where we got together and helped a fellow AZer buy a couple of pair of work boots for his Father.

Many of us have Dreams that deep down, we know that will become unfulfilled.

Thats why we joke and tell others that it is on our Bucket List.

There is always more than one way to Skin a Cat and if your Dream is that important to you, I suggest you sit down and start Brain Storming it a little further and see just how important it is to yourself.

If one can't make personal sacrifices in order for it to come about, well, I guess that particular Dream wasn't important enuff to you.

I sincerely wish that I could help you beyond typing a few probably unimportant words.

You see, I still have my own Dreams to attend to.

On a positive note, I did find more than a few aspiring bikini models on the site that seemed worthy of my consideration.

Won GSBT several times. AA player. No drugs.
Don't know about the packages but he's a great player with a monster break

If he's that good, would not the winnings from the tournaments be OK for entry fees in others? Or get local backers?

The issue with this post is that there are 200 other members on here that would love to have people send them money for tournaments so a random person asking for donations would be ridiculed a bit.

I do have to say that the only time I ended up asking for donations on AZB was by accident when I was going to sell my son's old cue to raise money for his Jr Nationals trip and a few people said to keep the cue and that they'd donate to his trip. I changed that post to a "help fund my son" post and raised $250 including a $100 single donation and $30 from a guy all they way in Australia that helped send a US kid to the tournament.

That is a bit different situation though.

The difference being Hang. You have been a longer time contributing member here and you keep everyone up to date on your Son's pool playing adventures.

It is a bit different to contribute to a young persons goals than it is when we don't know this guy from Adam and exactly where the money might be going to.

Well peteypooldude seems to know his and if he won the GSBT a few times he's known to others in the area. One thing for sure, if I was a AA player, I'd have backers and friends that would probably put up money for me to enter tournaments.

Plus the fact that just about all of us would like to put up a money donation site for tournaments LOL.

Speaking of which, my son's Jr Nationals trip is Monday, anyone got a few extra $100s around to send us?

Also speaking of my son's adventures, he got 2nd place in the Jr State championship this year, the irony of that is that he lost the finals to a girl I was helping to mentor when she first started playing. So we have one win and one second place for him in two attempts.

to everyone.

I just want to start by saying thank you ALL for your comments and questioning who I am. I understand no one on here knows me and everyone would like to get money for doing something. I didnt mean to start anything at all as I read everything everyone has put on my post. lol

As for who I am I was a up and coming pool player that never had a chance. Meaning never had backers only way backers the ones that sit way back when someone wanted to play. lol I'm one of the best in Myrtle Beach or in South Carolina and yes I know all the great players around the area as the all know me as well.( Brian White, Josh Roberts, Shannon Daulton, Stevie Moore, Jared Mcgee, Scott Rabon a few others I left out) I beat them all sometime or another as they did me the same way.

Someone said earn the money at local tourneys around here. Well i'm not aloud to play in the bc the other players wouldnt play then. I played in the VNEA league and went to Vegas for the international event many times the best I did was 4th in the master division singles. Yes I have won some GSBT tourneys also. Even when they werent handicapped, but thats not the ones I want to play in. I want a chance at the us open or the derby city or some tourneys like that.

I'm not for someone to just donate $20000 only. You could donate $5 up to thousands. I wouldve said 5000 but why not ask for whatever and see what I could get.

Like I said thank you all for your comments and everything. I hope everyone has a great day.

What a naive thoughtless bunch of nonsense. I don't think you heard a word anyone said you are so blinded by your own selfish ideas. Who cares what you want, go out and work for it like the rest of us.

Also, from my experience, backers can be pretty much parasites and hard to get rid of when you are a winning player, even if they are just betting on the side. Yet they won't come near you with a 10 foot pole???????

I didn't say get a job, I said work for it. This could mean anything like making sacrifices, maybe cutting out something that is less important so more of what you have can be put towards your pool. If it is really important to you it is worth sacrificing, for. Find other sources of income like someone suggested maybe giving lessons. It also means managing your money and not pissing it away. And yes, people piss money away all the time and can not tell you what they did with it.

Managing your money is everything. When I was playing pool I had a fund that was just for pool. It was not to pay bills or food, nothing, just pool. I treated the money like it didn't exist and I never need a backer because I always had the money to match up or enter a tournament what ever.

When I traveled I also sold cues. I always had a stash of cues I bought wholesale that I could hustle along the way. Back than I liked Sneaky Pete's. Originally I sold McDermott's but later switched to Valley's I was able to get for like $9.00 a cue. I would leave with like 6 dozen cues and always come back with none.

I could walk into most any bar or pool room and get $25.00 for one of them with my eyes closed. Honestly, they really looked as good as cues that sold for $50.00 or more back then. Mike Massey turned me on to them he used to do the same thing.

Anyway, you have been a good sport, you got insulted a little and also got some pretty good advice. I wish you well but you are the one who will have to do it, don't depend on anyone else to hold your hand. And stop making excuses.

Why dont you jump out there and gamble to win the money you need. If you can't win it gambling a few sets then you aren't ready to play in a "big" tournament. Come to Texas and I'll be more than happy to provide you an opportunity to win a few tournament entries.

I'm sorry if I took you the wrong way at first. You do have some good ideas. I am a wholesaler but I've had problems with some of the transactions with some of the cues so I quit messing with them.
Like I said before thank you for your comments. Have a nice day.

it amazes.me on what people.post on here sometimes...i can see if someone is struggling to make ends meet and.may need help to pay bills for that month...id personally try and help some...but to ask.people to make.donations so you can travel and play pool on their dime so you dont have to pay it yourself...while most people here have to or have at one point had to pay for everything themselves...and your asking for donations...i could see if you were in search of a backer and were.posting your stats for say to fund it and you guys somehow split up winnings..but donations..really?...im 26 and my dream is to retire by 30..id like donations for my dream to come true as well

Have you tried fishing? Maybe you will catch something there, like an old boot with money in it! Hey, just trying to help. Have a nice day! :thumbup2:

For me, it's not so much money, it's time.
I would ask for someone to be my stunt double at work so I can start playing pool during the day. Not sure you will ever get anything in return but you'd be helping an aspiring pool player

Thats funny you said that.s I was bass fishing last week and caught a golf club. Funniest thing ever.. love them golf course ponds.. lol

It's like people are hating on me bc they didnt think of it first or they know they can say whatever and I'd never see them. It's so funny.. Thanks again for all your comments loving everyone of them.. lol

I think he really doesn't know what to do and this was his best idea. He needs to be around more worldly and successful people. He doesn't realize he can actually can do what he would like to if he just put together a logical plan and had the ability stick with it. We are not talking about and vast sums of money here. He wants to play in a few tournaments and that is no big deal if he tries.

Okay fast1....I'm down for the $2 on the corvette.....but I have to at least get to have my photo taken behind the wheel.......for $50, can I get to drive it?

Oh yeah.....back to this thread.....pitiful, shameful, arrogant, pompous, egotistical with a heavy dash of egocentric and just fat ass lazy.......that about pretty much sums it up.

Just some FYI...... I play poker like a professional when I'm gambling with other people's money........and when I lose, it also doesn't cost me as much either.....sweet deal.

A photo???? Hell, just for your donation you can drive it and I will get a video of you doing so!!!!
