It's an old Brunswick (my best guess) - early/mid 1960's?The Piper said:I have seen that joint before!! I know someone who has a cue with that joint. I apologize i forget the name but as soon as i get the name I will forward it to you.

You are right - I had one with a 1960-70 label that had the same joint as yours. It's a joint Brunswick used, but I don't know if anyone else (other than Rambow) did.stix4sale said:didn't the two pc. hoppe's have the same joint? pin is only out past brass collar about 3/8" to tip of point, if that helps identify.

Here's a circa-1970 one with similar joint, but the longer pin: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7222458087
It almost looks like it could be an early 70’s Sampaio cue but most if not all of the Sampaio’s that I’ve seen had either “Sampaio” or “Portugal” or “Made in Portugal” stamped (embossed) in the butt or shaft and sometimes both the butt and shaft.anyone know what this is? carved rings on handle, brass joint, 5/16x18 brass pin, appreciate any thoughts. brent
I think there is a possibilty that it could be a Sampaio cue.., and if indeed it is, it has value in it's original condition.., If I owned this cue, I'd wait and find out before I would refinish or cut in a wrap.stix4sale said:don't tease me. i can't get lucky enough to find a rambow!!! haha![]()
actually this cue belongs to the owner of snookers billiards in cincy
going to refinish per his request
cut wrap groove in place of carved rings
Sure you could!stix4sale said:don't tease me. i can't get lucky enough to find a rambow!!! haha![]()
Rich cues made my 1950's Willie Hoppe?!? Damn.thepavlos said:I know I've seen that joint on Rich cues and that might explain the R stamped on the Hoppe.

Here are some joints similar to yours - the one on the left has about the same length pin, '50s Hoppe. Next one is slightly shorter and shaft sleeve is re-done. Shaft on far right is from a '60s Hoppe.
BTW - cue on far left is a near-perfect Hoppe with best craftsmanship I've seen, almost perfect points, you can barely feel the collars. And it has an "R" stamped into the butt on the opposite side of the label. Kind of weird.
Lotsa makers use the g-10 epoxy pin you refer to...The Piper said:... specific to the maker, like the glass epoxy to Cognoscenti cues...
