Help Identify / Establish Value

I am posting this here because this is where the people are that may know something about this cue.

I have the opportunity to buy this cue, and a case that resembles a George, but has sort of a flip up latch. The seller insists I make an offer, which I would only do in person.

He is saying it is from the 70's and he is the original owner.

Any help is appreciated in ID and Value, lets assume it is straight, probably needing a refinish.

Sorry the pictures are not the best, but hopefully you can see the design. I do not know the joint type, the ring work leads me to lean towards 5/16 x 14.....or 18 is it's from asia.

Thanks,
Dom

Adams.... Case May Be Adams As Well.

I'm Not Putting A Number Out There, But It's Not Worth Much If Anything.

Dom, the photo's supplied are not good enough to identify this cue. Remove the joint protector and take a photo of the pin, then remove the bumper and take a picture of the weight bolt. Then take another photo of the screw that is inserted in the shaft.

It appears to me that the cue is possible a Adam cue, but more likely a Helmstetter cue made by the same company. I also do not think it was made in the 70's, I suspect it made in the late 80's or early 90's.

If it is straight, it should be a good buy for around $200.

Take care

same time but you beat me. if i had a bluebook still i could look it up for you. the adams/helmstetter section is pretty big

I don't know what that is but I saw it too, I asked the seller about that when I just requested some additional pictures.
Thanks,
Dom

CRAIG,
MAYBE I WAS TOO GENERAL IN MY STATEMENT...... IT COULD BE ONE OF SEVERAL DIFFERENT ADAMS BRANDS (INCLUDING HELMSTETTER)

YOU REALLY THINK IT BRINGS 200?

P.S. I ALSO THINK IT'S A 90'S CUE, NOT A 70'S CUE

That sig is the key. If the seller is hesitant to provide any more info, walk away. Make an offer?... $50 shipped...

It definitely has a late 80's to 90's helmstetter look to it, and that would be my guess. But it may be a "Miz series" Taiwan cue. they made some Adam style knock offs. see if it says "Steve mizerak" on the forearm. I would also find out if its a 5/16-14 joint. if so, its not a helmstetter.
Adam cues made a Steve Mizerak line, But it has a very different signature than the Taiwan cues have.

Jayman, that's exactly what I was thinking, Steve Mizerak. Looking at what is visible, it seems to match the tips of would be letters.

I know it's a very old thread but I hate leaving cues unidentified.

It's a Mizerak Professional Series SM-7. The 1992 MSRP was $599. Not made by Adam but of the same quality standard. It's a "good" cue, not one of the department store "dove" cues which were the lower end models in the same catalog.

He is saying it is from the 70's and he is the original owner.
I have seen people claiming they bought it in the seventies before regarding cues like this. No way. In fact, the one I got (mint condition) also claimed he was the original owner and he bought it in the seventies.
These cues were released to the market in 1992.

These were not "knock-offs", Steve Mizerak was directly involved in this business venture. I have the original trademark records and other materials. This venture was his baby along with Harold Miller of Cobra Cues fame. Harold was formerly with Adam.

Here is a picture of the original 1992 catalog page.
