Help identify joint of cue - 5/16x14 maybe?

Can anyone tell me (for a fact) what type of joint is in the cue in the picture, or what shafts out there will fir the butt?

I was thinking maybe 5/16x14, but the pin looks a little shorter then a Joss joint pin for example, so I do not know.

Any OB shafts will fit that butt, or would a cue maker need to customize an OB shaft (or other shafts) to fit it?

Thanks for your help.

Looks coarser thread than 14 to me. Suggestion...is there a Fastenal store near you?
Bet the guys there could tell you the size. Fastenal also sells thread size gauges.

Looks like a 14 thread to me. just an older cue. Pin isn't shorter. Just the pilot on the joint is deeper.

Is that a Schuler? Ray Schuler is dead now, but last I knew his family was carrying on the business. It's called "Schuler Legacy" now. They are in the Chicago area. If it's a Schuler, they can give you all the info you need and make a new shaft for you too.

PS. I Googled their website and get a serious warning so it sounds like they are having an issue with their website. Try 847-776-7769 or 411 for the 847 area code.

Fatz

Thread count goes by inches, so 14 would be 14 threads an inch, if you can't measure an inch of the pin(thread), then measure a half inch. 14 would be 7 threads then. 5/16 18 would be more than 7,lol.

Definitely not a Schuler. I've been playing with his cues for over 20 years and seen some cues from before that. I believe he patented his joint in 1975. His pin was hollow. His insert did not include any wood aside from what was in the joint face; only the metal extended from the face. There were a few exceptions, but he didn't typically use decorations in the joint rings.
