Help identify (or help with any info) about my Helmstetter cue?

I recently purchased a used Helmstetter cue, and I was wondering if anyone knew any information about it (like info of when the cue was made, model number, retail price, and info about what the inlays are made out of).

I would be grateful to know any info about the cue, because I have never seen one like it before.

It appears to have a lat faced 5/16x18 joint, and all Helmstetter cues that I have seen in the past had piloted joints on them.

The butt measures a little over 28 and 3/4 inches, and the shaft measures a little under 29 and 1/2 inches long (and these measurements seem odd to me).

The total length of the cue is about 58 and 1/4 inches long, and the cue is missing the rubber bumper for it.

The cue seems (to me) to be very old, because it has many nicks/dings on it, and the wrap is in poor condition.

If anyone knows where I can get a rubber bumper that would (for sure) fit the cue, than I would be very grateful for info to a link that sells a rubber bumper for the Helmstetter cue.

I do not have a digital camera, so my pictures of the cue are not very good quality.

Thank you for any info about the cue.

The cue is a model 87-10 and they were still being sold in 1996 / 1997 catalog. The original retail price of the cue was $530 and extra shafts cost $100

Hope this helps

Thank you very much for that info. I wonder if the cue is collectible, or has the value of that model gone down over the years (for a used cue)? How much would the cue be worth if I were to get it refinished, and a new wrap put on it (by a professional repair person)? I am not sure if it would be worth it to have that repair done. Does anyone know where I can buy a rubber bumper for the cue? Thanks.

Unfortunately, The Helmstetter name does not seem to have the impact I thought it would after all these years. My own small collection does not seem to have the value I thought or hoped it would. You can get an appraisal from bluebookinc.com for that model #. It will cost you around 5 bucks. I personally value mine at 3 times what the bluebook says

The cue is certainly worth a refinish, one thing I like about the Helmstetter cues is that all the inlays are real, and the cues forearm is short or V-splice. In addition these cues make great players, and that alone makes the refinish worth the cost.

Can anyone recommend a good repair person to refinish the cue (for around $100, or less)? Or, how much would it cost for a really good quality refinish (and re wrap)? Would it be better to put this question in the ask the cue maker section? Thanks.

I have had Ryan (RatCues here on AZB) refinish a cue for me and put on a leather wrap. It was over $100 for both the refinish and wrap but Ryan does a great job. The prices listed on the Muellers website show that leather wrap and a refinish would be about $200. Refinish with Irish Linen wrap would be about $30 cheaper.
