help id'ing this pooltable.

Hi all,

i was looking for a second hand table, and i came across this.

the guy doesnt seem to know alot about pool. when i mailed him with questions, he couldnt name the brand, tell anything about cusions, cloth, slate thickness, nothing. he just said he bought it from a sportcenter 3years ago, and has been gathering dust. hence the almost redicilous price he is asking.

the price is amazingly low. 850€! (around 1k), and it is a 9ft. and table of same style hardly sell for under 1800€. It looks alot like the clash competitionII, the dynamicII , the dynamic pro, the bufalo pro, and other tables of same designstyle, but the colour of the table seems to be a faded black, where as most of the tables mentioned above are DARK DARK black. not sure if the black has faded with the time etc, and in the corner u can see a ribled corner. and i dont know of any table that has it.

could anyone id this table?

ps: this will be my first pooltable im buying, so what are the things i should be looking at? (hard to check the slate without riping the cloth off, and i dont think he will rip it off without me paying for the table). are there some basic stuff u need to check on when buying a table?

ps: where should i ask the seller to look for a brandname . he said he didnt find any label easily... is there other things i should ask him to help me id this table?

guess ill have to measure it when i see it in person. it looks small indeed...
but that was the only thing he could tell me, that it was a 9ft.

Just by looking at the base, I would guess that it is a Kim Steel table or it might be a Gabriel. The Kim Steel Tables have had that type of pocket design and finish (Click the link below).

Compare to this - -those are commercial models, but similar to the table in your picture - do a Google image search and you will see a few more Kim Steel designs -

I'm no expert, but that's my guess.

I have no idea who made this table but I can tell you that the leg supports, the feet and the metal portions of the pockets look just like my Brunswick Gold Crown III. However, my table has a name plate at the head of the table and I suspect that all of their tables have a name plate.

Actually, it looks smaller than that, maybe even a 7....ask him to measure the playing surface, not from one edge of the outside to the other

That, or those are the largest pool balls I have ever seen on a 9 foot table...

thx guys, i got some more info from the guy, and he said something like; the guy who sold it said something about it being almost a brunswick. and the brand u named, looks to be the german version of a brunswick, or the brunswick is an copy of this one. Whatever.

But anyway, the table looks very small, and i asked him to check the measurements before ill drive to him.

if its a 8 or 7ft, ill have to pass probably. Damn its hard to find a descent 2d hand table in europe. the market is death for used tables. or those that are, arent really my style.

That looks like an 8 foot table to me...

I think one could make a guess by the pic , the cue stick on the left is laying about 6 inches from the upper pocket , and the other end is laying past the first ball in the rack of balls ,which look to be racked on the spot, figuring the cue to be 58 inches , I don't have a table here at home so I can lay a stick down to see if it reaches the rack. But call it roughly 60 inches from back rail to the headspot , no way its a 9ft.

mmm after some more looking, i dont think its a ksteel....



the base is different. in the Ksteel there are thick round legs, on my table they are different...

mmm ive found and only read good things about ksteel. not my top top favorit, but certainly looks nice with the right combo of colours. now what is this table?

Kim Steel has used those same bases on their tables.

The problem in Europe is that there are several companies that make replica tables from an amalgum of various table parts. I would still guess that to be a KSteel frame, and its definitely not a 9 footer. It would be easier to identify if he could send you a better picture of the skirt and one of the underframe.

well i pmed the guy with several 'easy to check' questions, and it is a 8ft'er.
i still asked him to tell me wich brand it is, when he sells it, and they take the table apart im sure there must be a logo SOMEWHERE. but i aint buying the table. 8ft'er would harm my 9ft game more then it would help.

still i think its a very good deal for a very nice table. 850€ asking price, you could probably even knock off another hundred, as they guy really wants to get rid if it quick, and has NO clue what he is selling.
