Hello there,
I am beginner to billiard world... I mainly play Pool with friends but I feel I am going to join some local tournaments; so my question is:

- I want to buy a Pool Cue...
Which cue maker/brand is good? I am going to pay < 100$ and I donT want my first cue to be rubbish... I would like to have cue from high rated/well known Brand... So suggest me...

( I Like Dufferin, I donT know whether it is goob brand or not, but I like name itself :D :D :D )

Brand doesnt matter near as much as set up. I would reccommend anyone to set their cue up for 9 ball. 15 in Pro Taper.....I would also suggest 19 oz.....to start with. if their is a weight bolt you can remove it later to see if you like the lighter weight and put a smaller bolt in.

I definitely think whatever you play with needs to be able to accomodate your game at a later date with the pro taper.

You will find a lot of 9 ballers use smaller diameter shafts but thats a change you can make later on.

While a great choice in cues, it's totally impossible to get for the OP's budget of $100...maybe you misread that.

Mr. Lee,

I did not misread regarding his budget, but you are correct regarding the price.

However, you can get a McDermott Lucky Cue for $40.00 & the G-Core now or later for $125.00 He can upgrade now or plan now for it later.

Merry Christmas Mr. Lee,

What I tell all new players is to grab a Schmelke... how u gonna go wrong for a hundo. quality product and quality company.......

Thank you all. Your advice was really helpful. Actually I am going to buy it on eBay auction and it is easy to get nice (Like New) cues for cheap... For example my friend bought a McDermott wich costs 179$ for only 59$ on eBay auction.

Now I just want to ask another question:
Have you ever had, or do you know anything about these 2 model cues:
(See attached images below)

1. McDermott GM02

The condition is "NEW" and I contacted McDermott customer support to ensure that it is genuine McDermott model and they confirmed that McDermott really produced these models few years ago...

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ __ _ _ _ _ __
2. Dufferin 603

I know that Dufferins are no longer made in Canada and they moved their production line to China but for me it does not make sense (As I am just beginner and this will be my first cue).
The seller says that: "I HAVE to say it is in used condition but as with all my cues they are a part of the family and in very good TO NEW condition. "

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

What can you tell me about these two cues? I bet I can get them for only 60$

P.S. somebody there asked as I remember which type of pool do I play - I play 8 Ball Pool mainly. And also, I live in East Europe, thats why I am buy cue online, here I could not find any good store to buy normal one. :)
