HELP - My Balls Are Yellow!

OldHasBeen

Tom Ferry
I got lucky this morning and found a "Like New" set of Brunswick Centennial Balls (w/ the org blue circle) in our newspaper for only $100.
They have been played with only 2 hours but that was about 3 years ago. They have become yellowed from sitting in the box.
WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO CLEAN AND DE-YELLOW THESE BALLS?

$100? You stole them. Here is what I use. It takes a little time and effort, but works pretty well.

I've been told to let it sit in sun light. You got a good deal, though. When I bought a set over 10 years ago I got them for $85.

I just sold a set like that to an esteemed cue collector for $70, used maybe 12 times for one set, because i didnt like the yellow and he said that they were the 'good Centennials' and were not meant to be real white.

Maybe we get used to the newer whiter sets and then when we go back to our older sets they dont look right. I think that is what happened to me anyway.

My advice- Buy a brand new brighter set of Super Pro Aramith for maybe $150

I use that too.

it may work, but I doubt it does much.
just think of the yellow as character.

it could be worse, your balls could be blue. :D

Too bad about the yellow balls...blue balls would have been better, at least you can do something about them.

I saw a commercial on TV the other day, and for $29.95 you can whiten yellow teeth to be pearly white.

You apply this stuff onto your teeth, and then you insert this mouthpiece that has some kind of purple, blue, or black light that interacts with the substance and turns those old choppers into white gleaming things of beauty.

Who knows, maybe it'll work. Who da thunk magic eraser would be the super cleaning agent for shafts before anyone ever tried it.
And if it doesn't work on the balls, you still probably have enough left over for your own dentures so it won't be a total waste.

You sold a set of Brunswick Centennials for $70!!!!!!!!! Holy shit! Next time you decide to sell a set of Centennials that cheap give us a chance at them!!

I use the Aramith cleaner on my Centennials and it works great, I doubt it would take the yellowing out though. Not sure anything will. They play the best, so don't worry about the color and just enjoy the fact you got them at half price.

Since when does anybody pay attention to the color of their balls unless they're black n blue!!! :D Sorry... I just couldn't resist!!!

I thought it's just natural for the plastic to yellow over time (oxidation?). I bought a brand new sparkling WHITE Red Circle Q-ball from my local billiard supplie, and kept it - unused - inside my room drawer (nice, cool and dry) for 10 years or so and the thing still turned yellow!!! Any chemists out there?

The same way you tell the two ball is blue, compare them to the ones in the mirror.

I use a special cleaner made from the foreskin of a rhino tip....Found if I soaked them in water they left off some sort of acid that works great. I know you have plenty of these tips, so give them a little soak and see what happens.

Send them to me and I'll run them through my ball cleaner, and polish them up for you, N/C. I can get some of the yellow out, but they are supposed to be a cream color.

Yellow Balls could be the Early Sign of Hepatitis....... :D

Mother's Plastic Polish.

Be prepared to spend about 20-30 minutes a ball, but it works, it will remove yellowing from age. But, Blud is right, those balls are supposed to be more cream than white.
