<<<Help!!! My Shaft Is Too Long!!!>>>

But it's not a good thing. (This Time):p :p

Now that I have your attention. Mike Johnson designed a beautiful cue for me a couple of weeks ago.Made from cocabola wood.A six point with exotic bright colored veneers .It hits em great;Only problem is that the shaft is about an inch and a half too long.

Mike priced one for me at $200.I feel like that is a little expensive so I've decided to shop around.

Anyone recommend a cuemaker I can contact that's pretty reasonable?I'm not use to paying more than a c-note for a shaft.

If you want a really cheap solution. Go for a shorter ferrule. It's cheap and deflects lesser.

you brag about throwing money around backing people and gambling, but worried about $200 on a solid investment? im confused...

Any advice AZ ?????

A plethora of wonderfull cue mechanics visit this site.

I'm confident MIKE JOHNSON, or any of them, can shorten your shaft. Most would do it for some good football tips.;)

If you find one that can lengthen it let me know.

You should be able to have a competent cuesmith cut the end, make a new tenon and install a new ferrule and tip. Perhaps a very slight turning down at the end depending on Mike's taper.
Perhaps $50 or so.

Thank you sir

Good suggestion..That's what I thought about having Mike do initially..I'm still debating it ..I don't want to Jeopardize the "feel" of the cue either by doing that.

We'll see..and I genuinely thank you for that good advice.:) :)

How long is the butt of this cue? If it is longer also the cue will not be right if you just shorten the shaft.

in all seriousness, what Kelly_guy suggested would be your best bet. just wondering, how long is the shaft now? it seems that taller people here on az prefer a longer cue, i personaly like a 60" cue. good luck,
jay

Having someone shorten the existing shaft and putting on the same ferrule and tip material that Mike used will be closer to the feel and hit of the cue as it is now than having another maker make a whole new shaft.

The benefit of having a new shaft made is you will have two shafts, which might be worth it.

Is the shaft longer than the butt? Was their a failure of communication?

A guy named JOHNSON makes your shaft too long....hmmmmmm. And this surprises you?

Indeed....

Walt, you are truly a brave man, I commend you....

Losing an inch and a half off my shaft would kill my confidence

Just what is a basketball player supposed to know about football?

Mike Bender will make you one for about $250.00 but will only use premium maple wood.

You could persuade Bobby Jones from Gulfport, MS to make you one for less I'm sure.

I do it all

Based on many of your posts, you are not just somking cigars:D :D

Why did you have a cue made with a shaft that is too long? Also, I cannot imagine having anyone other then Mike alter the shaft of a cue he made if he is available to make the change. Do you really have the cue in question or are you running out of things to post:rolleyes:  Just giving you a hard time, keep em coming, they are generally entertaining.:)
