Help needed - Pool Table with Signatures

Hi AZBers,

Received an email the other day looking for info about a pool table signed by several top pros. (pics attached).

The table was bought in an auction in Las Vegas and the owner passed away in 2009, but his son Jack is trying to find out more about the table and where it came from.

Here is some info:

My Dad was a long time attorney here in Las Vegas who had an affinity for auctions. He purchased some years ago a 9 foot Diamond Tournament Sized pool table that was apparently used in tournament play. On the side of the pool table is a number of signatures. Earl's signature is rather large and says "'93 Champion". Johnny Archer, Nick Varner, Mark Wilson, and Dennis Hatch also signed the pool table. My Dad passed away in 2009 and we are having trouble locating any paperwork. Just trying to find out where this pool table was from. We always heard that it was the Sands hotel here in Las Vegas.

Johnny's signature says "4th place 13 Racks."

Signed by Francisco Bustamante also, and has an inscription to "his best friend Curtis". There is also a date on there "3-6-93".

Does anyone have any info about this table by chance? I already asked Johnny and he thinks it could be from the Sands, but the son wants to try and verify that. Johnny won the World 9Ball Championship in Las Vegas 1993, same year Earl won the U.S. Open. I do not know when they would have all signed it tho, if Earl won the US Open later in 1993.

The son has been trying to ask Bustmante, but all numbers and emails to anyone who can get a hold of him has not been successful.

Thanks in advance!

A full picture of the table could help, Trig.
I have a vague knowledge of the situation....
...seeing the actual table may 'trigger' recognition from one of us.

Efren is at Hard times billiards for another day before he goes to NY for the straight pool tournament, I'm sure he can get a hold of Buste.

This is the link to that story: http://www.azbilliards.com/roadstories/index.html

Thx! Yea, I first thought it was the table, too. But since that took place in Ohio, we are thinking that's not it because the table was bought in Vegas.

Anyone have a contact for Bustamante?

Not for nothing, but "13 racks" by Johnny with Busty also signing it - that would be a rather large coincidence if it weren't the time JA ran 13 against Busty. Wouldn't it? But that JA wasn't sure @ it, casts doubt. I recall that Busty played JA again and beat him, that could explain "4th place".

Surely we can solve the mystery people!

It is not the table from the Glass City tournament where JA and Busty gambled with Johnny running the 13 out in the second set. I know the guy who has that table, he lives close to me and he still owned it as of a couple of weeks ago. His table has the signatures from that match on it, and we live in Kentucky...much closer to Ohio :)

He posts on here so maybe he will chime in at some point if he sees the thread.

That puts one possibility to bed! Good info Brandon.

Press on sleuths!
